Had? The meetings are already done? Or he has planned them? Whiteside said he will announce his decision soon in snapchat. So much for him maturing.
Whiteside going to Dallas would mean he'd start over Zaza who had a good year. Still, I think this is highly likely.
Has*, sorry for the confusion. Really hope Whiteside chooses Miami, I'm gonna be pissed if Whiteside signs with Dallas and we strike out on Horford/Howard. There's no reason we can't beat the Mavs offer for him.
I don't know why everyone here is acting so surprised and shocked. These are the new prices for free agents. There are only 15 players on a NBA roster. So if every player got the exact same salary for the 2017 cap space of $110 million, they would each get $7.3 million year. Yes, even that 15th man who does nothing all season but cheer would make that much. That 15th man won't make that much, so the money has to go somewhere. Also, the returning to "sanity in a few years" will be modest if at all, because teams have to pay up to the 90% of the cap by rule anyways. So by 2017 that is $99 million per team will be required.
With that being the case, do you just say screw it and up the offer from 15 to 17.5 so he gets his 70 million and we get our SF?
There has to be a reason why we came up with that number at first. But if all it takes is for us to raise the contract by 2.5 mill to have bazemore at horford meeting to convince him to join then by all means you raise the contract up.
This, but also/only if you have a deal on the table with Ariza involved to upgrade another spot (that 3 way deal with Philly and Minnie for Noel and Rubio would be really good if true). Noel Horford Bazemore Harden Rubio/Knight (just throwing two available names here) Capela D.Mo/Beasley KJ/Dekker Gentile Payton/Terry Not bad. Still no 2nd star but great defense, good lenght, athleticism and still a lot of flexibility for next summer. At this point i would be shocked if we end up with something like this.
Do you think he will be starter for the team? If you prorate his salary based on minutes he will play (suggesting that better players play for more minutes) and say he will play about 33 minutes/game, then yes $17 million is totally reasonable for a starting SF in the future $110 million salary cap. You can't be stuck on last years cap, and honestly with the cap increasing after 1 season of his contrast you have to look past the $92 million cap as well.
I'd rather roll with DMo & Capela than throw money at Anderson & Mahimi, unless you can get those guys on short contracts.
