Who do you think would benefit humanity if they were never born?

Obviously I think Osama Bin Laden being dead would help, as would most of his inner circle.

What about the leader of Libya, or some of the tribal leaders in Somalia?

    What about Dick Cheney?

Whom do you think the world would be better off today without.

Obviously, the old ones like Hitler and Stalin, but what about modern day people the world could do without?

The problem with saying that we would be better of if so and so had never lived is that the world might be totally different and possibly not for the better. As evil as Hitler and Stalin were the modern world that we have now has largely been shaped by their actions. If we could pull a Terminator and go back and prevent Hitler's birth we really have no idea how things would change.

That said I can tell you there is one person who the world would be better off if they hadn't existed.

    A+ reply.

We can't answer that, DaDa. Maybe Hitler killed millions, but in the process killed the guy that was going to spawn some Super Hitler that would blow up the world.

Then again, maybe blowing up the world would have saved the Universe!

You dont even have to go so far as to suggest Hitler might've killed a more dangerous person. WWII is pretty much responsible for a complete change in international relations. The rise of American hegemony, the cold war, the UN, the end of isolationism, etc.. all trace their roots back to WWII.

The nature of modern internatonal relations can be traced back to the changes spawned by WWII and if that never happened who knows how the world will look today. (not to condone or justify Hitler's actions, merely looking at this from a purely utilitarian standpoint)

I'm a social forces kind of guy, so I don't think we'd be any better off without our super villains. Those guys just displaced other villains.

I doubt killing one person would really change the world that much. If it wasn't hitler maybe another german politicians rises up. If not osama some other quack comes in to fill the void.

I don't know about the world, but this bbs would have been better off without Dan Langhi, Vassilis Spanoulis and Von Wafer. Hopefully Chase can avoid their fate .....
