A calm Russell Westbrook has a strong case. Chris Paul is still the best point guard in the league. When he looks to score, he is unstoppable. And he is still better on defense. Westbrook is an elite on-ball defender, but his off-ball defense is atrocious
I think it's a fair assessment. I don't think Paul could be as successful as Westbrook on the Thunder, while I don't think Westbrook would be as successful as Paul on the Clippers. Different styles, both better than everyone else at the moment.
i'll tell you what..nobody in the league wears camouflage pants with a blazer better than westbrook. he so hot right now.
It's a legit argument if you're metrics for measuring a player is his impact on the game and ability to take a game over on a regular basis. I know for a lot of folks PGs have to average 10 apg or they somehow get automatically removed from the discussion of who is the best but I disagree.
Maybe it finally happens this coming season. Main thing holding WB back is the gray matter between his ears.
Almost unguardable for the Rockets, and most every other team, and yet, cannot seem to capitalize on that. They have two such players. And yet no title. Hard to believe. One day all that athelticism will likely ry up so they have a small window here.
Howard and Harden can't even get out of the first round, or go to 7 games v. a young team. It's harder to win with just 2 guys nowadays. The elite teams are stacked.
