Yeah it's a tough one. I think it was the influence in pop music they had. Hell there were even "better" bands in their Seattle circle at the time but they just did such a great job of taking influences from bands like the pixies, and the Vasolines and bought in that flowy distorted guitar. Nevermind might be the first album I had on CD where it really cleared up the muck so you could really feel the depth of that sound.

Hate to give them the nod due to nostalgia but then again I'm also giving the Cure my nod because well... Nobody can you feel sorry for yourself in a good way like Bob Smith. Got me through my teen heartbreak years.

Surprised to see no mentions of RHCP for the 90's. For me that decade was all about the Toadies.

Oh wow. I recommend giving Amnesiac another listen. A lot of people felt that way at the time I remeber but now I actually come back to those tracks probably more than Kid A. I think Kid A just grabs you right away while Amnesiac is a little distant at first. Probably made a mistake of releasing it right after Kid A as a companion piece. Pyramid song I think might be my favorite RH track of all time as well.

Those are the only two Radiohead albums I like, but I really like the both of them. Amnesiac moreso than Kid A.

Decades are so inexact. Group instead by era. Top 10:

Beatles, The Who, Stones, Led Zep, Pink

    The Clash, The Police, EW&F

    U2, REM

Honorable Mention: Kinks, Aerosmith, Fleetwood Mac, Nirvana

How much of Springsteen is E Street? Do they meet the criteria?
