Report: Dwight Howard Will Request A Trade After The Season
DWIGHT HOWARD, NBA, ORLANDO MAGIC | COMMENTS

Stephen A. Smith of ESPN is reporting that Orlando Magic center, Dwight Howard, will request to be traded as soon as the Magic are eliminated from the postseason.

“The minute this season is over, according to what I am hearing from his camp, you can expect Dwight Howard to tell Orlando. ‘Get me out of here. I don’t want to be here any longer.’ You’ve got Stan Van Gundy annoyed with the organization. You’ve got Dwight Howard disgusted with the organization. The way he’s been treated, along with the way his teammates have been AWOL on him as far as he’s concerned. You’ve got a problem.

Not to mention the fact, there’s one other little Cliff Note that you might find interesting. When he had his back surgery, they were talking about giving him a flight on Air Tran or something like that. This is the kind of stuff that I’ve been told in the last 24 hours in terms of how they’ve treated him. He feels as a superstar, he’s been treated as a scrub.”

Howard had requested a trade from the club prior to the 2011-12 season, but later signed a document with the club that waived his right to opt out of his contract this offseason. It was believed at the time that this agreement would keep Howard in a Magic uniform through at least next year’s trade deadline, however tensions have grown between the player, the coaching staff, and the organization in recent weeks.

Prior to his season ending back injury, the six-time All-Star was averaging 20.6 points, 14.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks.

Funny since SAS was disgusted with how Howard threw the media under the bus at the trade deadline for blowing his trade requests out of proportion.

This guy is just something else. Why sign the papers by showing "loyalty" and talk about loving Orlando.

So if he is traded, does he have to sign with the new team?

Do not want, such a little baby! By the way, what the hell happened to the good shot blockers?? In the mid 90s, several guys were around 3-4 blocks a game (Olajuwon, Deke, Shaq, Zo, Bradley, Robinson, maybe even Ewing). Howard with only 2, that's pretty bad for a guy his size.

Maybe we can trade all of our players for a 1 year rental, then have him leave us!

Fixed....considering the source and his megaphone delivery. Makes it more authentic.

IF this is true, Howard's back problem = no bueno. But Morey'd make an offer anyway.

The AirTrannie----er, Air Tran----doesn't seem real. Why would the Magic organization be so dumb?

lol...we know he is spoiled...but if we could deal with TMAC...we could deal with Dwight...he needs a change of scenery...and he specifically requested wanting to be in a bigger town...Morey needs to act

I'm confused...did he expect them to charter a flight just for him? His sense of entitlement combined with his passive-aggresiveness is infuriating.

I was just wondering because he signed some "paper" that said he would have to stay in Orlando through his contract and won't opt out. What a cluster*****

So many people b**** about star players leaving their teams. When a team trades you, don't be mad, it's just a business, now pack your bags, gather your family, and go. When a player leaves after spending years on the same team, you're a traitor, a coward, a baby, etc.

I don't feel bad for them at all. They had 8 years to build around Dwight. 8 years! How did they spend it? Giving a max contract to Rashard Lewis, draft poorly, trade Rashard for Gilbert Arenas, trade just for the sake of trading.

Why didn't Dwight just pull a T-Mac and announce his surgery right before the deadline? Immediately makes it so that the Magic wouldn't trade him to a rental team, and lets him decline his option and sign with Brooklyn next year without having to gut his new team of picks and prospects in a trade? Look, at this point he's irreparably damaged his reputation and legacy, so at least make the best career move and stop caring what people think of you.

If he had a chance to play with Dwight...he would take it...over playing with Dirk who is going past his prime...Dallas' entire team has aged...and really lacks young talent...
