    Kings Sign Omri Casspi

SACRAMENTO, CA ---- The Sacramento Kings today signed free agent forward Omri Casspi, according to Kings General Manager Pete D’Alessandro.

The first Israeli-born player to be selected by an NBA team and compete in the league, Casspi was originally tabbed by the Kings in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft. He has accrued averages of 7.7 points (.421 FG%, .352 3pt%, .667 FT%), 3.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 20.7 minutes per game in 327 career contests with three teams – Sacramento (2009-10 – 2010-11), Cleveland (2011-12 – 2012-13) and Houston (2013-14).

In 71 games with the Rockets last season, Casspi posted 6.9 points (.422 FG%, .347 3pt%, .680 FT%), 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest.

Good for Omri. He's a good guy and I hope he does well, even though I don't give the Kings a chance to do anything in the Western Conference.

Omri has to be more consistent to get his minutes. He was so hyped on playing with us last year, but he flamed out quickly.

    He was great in preseason.
Took and made some crazy shots and consistently hit the three ball.

Then he turned into a pile of garbage.

Most Cavs fans would say he just revealed his true self. I'm just thrilled that we have papa and (finally) a solid SF rotation. Good for him but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up back in Europe.

Casspi is what he is, a players who is just not good enough for great teams but can contribute if he gets his head right. As a Rocket, he settled for jumpshots way too much and at times where you would scratch your head. This is weird because he was a solid off the ball, made great cuts and slashes through the middle for a floater or lay-up. McHale and our team's lack of offensive diversity made it hard for him to do that, but he also held himself back. With consistent minutes on a team where moving off the ball is key, he can be good. He was a great character guy so wish him the best.

Great post. Only thing I disagree with is I don't think Casspi can be consistently good over an entire season. Some guys just aren't capable of that.

Hopefully he does better there, I spoke with Casspi at the start of the season. He seemed he loved Houston, but it's just what he did in preseason didn't come during the season.

I was very impressed with Casspi & Garcia in preseason. Their shooting was off the chart. I thought their shooting would take us at least to the WCF. Unfortunately it only lasted a month or so. Casspi's a good guy! I wish him nothing but luck.
