What an idiot, he has the good life, and he is going to toss it all away for basically nothing.

So florida can have psilocybin mushrooms but we can have over 4 times that amount of weed in Texas before it's a felony. Crazy.

Plenty of people smoke reefer, his biggest mistake was driving with expired tags. That is just stupid.

    Yeah. Legalize it or whatever.

His mistake was hotboxing while driving his 'look-at-me' Land Rover with an entire ounce on his person. I'm all for getting high, but even if it's legalized, smoking and driving will still be outlawed and with good reason. Anyone who smokes and drives is stupid. Not because of impaired driving bull****. Because in America, especially states like Texas and Florida, you cannot protect your 4th ammendment rights and ultimately make yourself subject to the mercy of all the search and seizure of any jack-off cop within reach.

I'm not making a moral point here. I've driven and smoked before. I'm making a common sense point. Jordan Schafer has far more to lose than I, and in my estimation, was practically asking for it by smoking in his car, with such quantity in his possession.

Tags were a scapegoat for the 'larger' arrest. You know this.

Doesn't make it any more intelligent just because a bunch of people do it.

Smoking weed should not be a crime. Usually if you keep it in the safety of your own home, and its just a dime bag or something most cops don't give too much of a ****.

Driving around hotboxing a Land Rover with expired tags is just asking for trouble.

While it is illegal it is STUPID for the guy to smoke it......

And whether or not smoking it at all is stupid is also up for debate.

    shipwreck has it right.

    The weed isn't the problem.

    Carelessness is the problem.

Smoking in public is asking for BS like this to happen. Smoke at home.

Like I said, a lot more people smoke the hippie lettuce than you think. At least 30 million Americans.

But that is another debate obviously. My opinion is that it is less harmful than alcohol or nicotine, both of which are legal and heavily regulated.

You enjoy a fine glass of Cab Sav every night in the comfort of your own home, others enjoy a fat toke in the evening before they watch Doctor Who.

From a legality standpoint you're correct that it is a risk for him to do something illegal, but the way he went about it increased his chances of getting caught by about 90%.

This isn't the point though. It's not really the proper juncture to make the generic "legalize it" argument. I'm with you there. But you said "his biggest mistake was driving with expired tags," as if the negligence and carelessness of not just hotboxing a luxury SUV, but also the possession of a felony amount aren't crimes against stupidity as well.

If I smoke at home because I'm terrified of the power police officers have to destroy my life and career, Jordan Schafer should probably think about protecting his name accordingly.

All I really meant is that the thing that would get him most noticed by the police casually passing by would be the expired tags.

I was pointing out what he did that was stupid that got him caught, not commenting on the stupidity of everything else.

Dumb that he was driving and smoking it. Although a huge majority of pot smokers do this.

Nothing wrong with getting high, better than drinking or smoking cigarettes.

Just to bad he got caught.

Police should be worrying about **** that actually matters. Not some guy just relaxing.
