DRESDEN, Ohio — An NBA basketball star on Friday stepped up to help the family of Kasey King, the 6-year-old student killed when his school bus crashed on Wednesday along a rural Muskingum County road.

Kevin Martin, who plays for the Houston Rockets, and calls Zanesville home, has offered to pay for King's funeral, 10TV's Cara Connelly reported

Martin said he will also lend his support to help pass an Ohio bill that would require all school buses to have seat belts by 2014.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was continuing its investigation on Friday, but had not yet determined what caused the bus to wreck. No other vehicles were involved.

The bus driver, Carol Oler, was flown by medical helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, and was released a few hours after the crash, Connelly reported.

Wednesday's crash was not the first Oler has had while behind the wheel, Connelly reported.

According to traffic reports, she drove off the road in her own vehicle last year. At the time, Oler told state troopers that she was a diabetic and may have blacked out.

Investigators said they are looking into the possibility that Oler's health was a factor in Tuesday's crash, Connelly reported.

After last year's crash, Oler's doctor filled out a form, called an 86-D, certifying that she was healthy enough to drive.

"This one is just exactly like any fatal that we would handle," said Ohio State Highway Patrol Zanesville Post Commander Lt. Steven Rine. "It involves a school bus and elementary children so it hits a little bit deeper a little bit more at home I guess."

Investigators were still working on reconstructing the crash, and will use computer modeling and 3-D simulation, Connelly reported.

Troopers also started analyzing surveillance video from inside the school bus on Friday, and are hoping it provides some answers.
