Mike Golic is 47 years old and can barely pass the test...

Haynesworth is just a piece of **** and just an embrassment.

This story has nothing to do with what kind of shape Albert Haynesworth is in. It's all about Mike Shanahan flexing his authority and showing Haynesworth who's boss.

Didn't Haynseworth drop 40lbs in the offseason to get into better shape? Its definitely a d-flexing contest. Childish on both parts. Reminds me of Adelman and McGrady playing their little pee pee games.

If you're relatively in shape and at a decent weight for your height, this should be no problem. I know that I could easily pass that test and I'm technically 25-35 pounds overweight. But Haynesworth weighs about 135 pounds ( or 95 if he did drop 40 pounds) more than I do so it's much harder for him.

That's not to excuse him, but this test shouldn't be a problem for a female reporter, provided she's not significantly overweight. An out of shape Golic is a better comparison.

Agreed. The Redskins have been without a take-charge coach long enough (I would count the recent tenure of Joe Gibbs, but he was way past his prime). If you took a job grumbling about what was expected of you and expecting everyone to do things your way, you'd better be the man in charge. This is about showing Haynesworth he isn't that guy.

Some say it's childish, but I too agree that the Skins need the discipline. Players walked all over Zorn and in the local media, they were always talking about the "country club" attitude around Redskins Park.

What are some of you talking about? HE's a defensive lineman. He is suppose to be fat. What's even crazier is that he is now going to be a nose tackle in a 3-4 which usually requires a fatter than normal guy to fill the gap.

    This is madness.

As someone who follows that team, Haynesworth was a mixed bag last year. He played well at times and got double teamed a lot (thus not getting great stats) but also was winded ALL THE TIME. Quite often he'd be laying out there "injured" and then leave the game and then come back. He really was injured at times, but also obviously had very low endurance. So I don't mind him being fat and playing nose tackle, but his biggest need for improvement from last year is getting in better shape so that he could stay on the field.

I almost hate to say this but as a Skins fan, I can kinda see where Albert is coming from. He may not of put of the most eye catching stats last year, but if you look at his true effective numbers you would see he was still a top DT for the Skins last year. You'd also take note that huge disappointment his whole career minus one decent 49er year, Andre Cater put up career highs and double digit sack numbers as did rookie other side end Brian Orakpo. They were greatly helped by the fact that Albert was eating up linemen in the middle and stuffing the run.

I see it like this. Dude has a talent at DT, signs a huge contract to showcase his talent for this position. One year later Shanny comes in and exclaims the Skins are going to run a 3 - 4 defense (which is crazy considering the skins have none of the pieces for this defense and are MUCH MUCH more suited to run a 4 - 3 defense), and we all know that Albert is not a Nose tackle. This is not going to be Alberts last payday as most experts point out that his true contract is only good for maybe 4 years. What does a NT get credit for...almost nothing meaning he hurts his chances of making money in the future by playing NT. NT is nothing more than a space eater. I don't care what Shanny is selling, but he isn't slotting Albert into the DE position for much more than maybe a few downs a game in a 3 -4. It makes sense if Albert is unhappy given that he has to change his position. Its not like he was underachieving and is better suited for a new postion like some players go through. He is a top level DT, and no one who really watches football is going to claim otherwise. You don't see Bilichick moving Brady into a wildcat offense, or is anyone telling Darrelle Revis he has to play nickle back? Of course not.

Basically Albert did what he was allotted by not showing up to the NON mandatory workouts. He was not the only Redskin that didn't show up either.

I understand he is paid alot of money, blah blah blah. But if you had a contract to showcase your abilities at a skill and then your work told you that you now had to do that as a janitor youd probably be upset also.

As stated, this more than likely wouldn't be Alberts last large contract assuming he performs well at his slated postion. He was made promises about what he was going to bring to this team. Shanny could of handled this alot better. Installing the 3-4 because its the current flavor of NFL defense doesn't excuse him from looking over his roster and not realizing he doesn't have the roster for it. Signing one over the hill bum after another Defensive lineman is r****ded. Expecting Andre Cater to play LB on alot of downs is going to be catastrophic. This was tried by the 49ers already and was the reason he left San Fran. Taking your prize second year DE who put up great numbers and hoping he can run LB in pass coverage is taking away from what the kid did best last year.

I blame Albert for some of this as much as I do Shanny.

Line Golic up opposite Haynesworth and watch him get destroyed. Why does a NT need to run 25 yards 6 times? Most of time the NT's main job is to just sit there and not move.

Cause you have to do it over and over. The quick burst repeatedly over and over. Snap after snap.

I don't know too much about football, but you make sense. I thought Andre Carter was big and strong...not a speedster and not a cover guy. I didn't realize that he's slated to start at OLB. That doesn't seem to make sense. Maybe the 3-4 doesn't need speedy cover OLBs? Maybe Carter will be a pass rush specialist and they'll be blitzing a lot from the outside with him and Orakpo.

Haynesworth was double teamed all the time last year too, so being a space eater by design shouldn't be too different for him.

Except I think he's probably right in that his talents would be wasted as an NT. Look at all the other good NTs in the league and compare to Albert physically. The closest is probably Jenkins at 6'4 360 (who's an outlier in the position himself), and Al's both taller and lighter.

This is not in defense of Al, I think he still took it way too easy last season and saw too many snaps from the sidelines. I don't think this conditioning test wasn't designed to fail anybody, but the article posted a few days ago made it seem like it was.
