Rather have Bledsoe or Dragic, but as long as we do not have to give up any core pieces then I'm all in. But better question is what would Morey give up for Rondo.
At this point I'm wanting to see how Beverley plays this year. I'd rather see an upgrade at PF. However, if Rondo could be had for relatively cheap, I guess I could get on board.
My preference: 1. Dragic 2. Rubio 3. Rondo I assume Morey will get the appropriate price for any of them. Just don't give up Troy Daniels.
I wish we could keep T. Jones in this scenario but its just no way... maybe we can...what if the celtics would rather picks and unguaranteed contracts?..
when you have rondo you're supposed to give him the ball and let him run the show. where is harden supposed to fit in in this scenario? rondo would be a really bad fit because if you take the ball out of his hands you take away his strengths. in the other aspects of the game rondo is not that much better than pat beverley to allocate that much more salary to him. also, you would have to give up talent to get him and the rockets aren't really in a position where they can afford to lose even more quality players. it's sad but it is what it is. the supposedly available options (rondo or rubio) don't have the skill set the rockets need with harden here.
Less of a fan than I am with Rubio. My problem is that I'm not sure we can see him at full strength with this team, both chemistry and injury issues. I don't want to roll the dice with him for 4-5 years after this. Whereas I'm more willing with Rubio at a cheaper price. Will give Boston something like Pelicans pick and Nick Johnson. That's about it.
I would add Bledso under Dragic, but that's my list for a pg also. We need another playmaker besides Harden. One of the reasons we lost to the Blazers was when Harden couldn't drive to the hoop, we looked lost on offense. Rondo's last on my list because: 1. If Doc can't get along with him, then who can and 2. his ft% is right there with DW, TJ & Dmo.
Warmer temp for rondo than Rubio ... Call me crazy but I like players that bring an edge to the game, defensive toughness and championship experience ..
If he is healthy and is willing to play for us, then yes as long as we don't have to sell the farm for him. An expiring contract Rondo is safer for us than a max deal for Rubio.
Morey has to make this move if he's available for the right price. His playoff experience is beyond invaluable and he takes the pressure off of Harden which will help him stay fresh for the playoffs. 100% for Rondo.
I would prefer not go after rondo or rubio. Would rather go after Milsap, or Teague. Of course go for Gogi if there is chance..
