Because the government is making too much money on taxing oil products. http://thespiritscience.net/2014/05/25/volkswagens-new-300-mpg-car-not-allowed-in-america-because-it-is-too-efficient/ WTF - I would love a car that got 300mpg - and big oil and governments are trying to screw Tesla too by forcing them to go through dealerships - simply crap. DD
Speechless... I had no idea that the technology to realistically achieve that type of efficiency already exited (and has exited since the 70's). Much less that it can be mass produced. There has to be something to this that the article didn't mention. Oil is king, but it isn't finite. And everyone wouldn't switch to this type of vehicle overnight. I just don't get it. Edit: And nevermind...
Also, I hear that the government is refusing to allow the cure for cancer to be distributed because it would hurt the profits of the pharmaceutical and health care industry.
coach b.o.b told me salt water can cure cancer? any truth to this? I do like the design of the car a little for a sci film made in the early 90s.
You know what is interesting? When I was growing up, there was a guy traveling around the country showing people how to build more efficient carburetors by having them completely enclosed and spraying the fuel on a heated plate and turning the liquid into gas before it went into the cylinders. My dad paid for the class in Houston, built the carb, and we had a 1976 Corvette getting around 100mpg - the carb was flaky though and he kept having to adjust it, but it did work. The guy was offered around 60 million by the Oil companies for his patent, he sold out, and quit selling that carb.... Snopes that - you WITCHES !! DD
It seems like they are still making concept cars that look just like the ones I remember looking at in books & magazines when I was a kid, that never ended up on the roads. They were all back heavy blobs with sleek lines, slits for windows, and always that weird cover over the back wheels.
