The USA Women's team was in Houston this week. You can see the practice court in the background. Solid red lane with black lines. Looks like "Houston Rockets" in white on the baseline.

For comparison, the old practice court had the same design as in the arena:

And the practice court design before that also had the same design as the arena:

Finally!! I really hope so, just because the particular red and lighting didn't work for the 03-07 years doesn't mean it can't work at all.

That looks so much better! Our floor has been so plain and boring looking for a long time. The red used in the early years of this brand was super dull and almost pink looking, that's why it was terrible.

Unfortunately, this is probably just for TEAM USA womens team being there. They are primary RED colored, unlike the Blue Mens team. I think that's all it is. I'm learning to not get my hopes up when it comes to the Rockets brand designs.

Just saw that the mens team was practicing on the court too, so never mind about my theory. In the end though, it's still just a practice court. I'm pretty sure there have been several instances where fans thought they were getting an upgraded home floor because of the practice floor was changed, but it never meant anything.

True..they always reveal it too in some special way and to get a new look 'leak' out like this wouldn't be good PR wise. Then again, Rockets and PR... ;):p

    It's a little different.

    1. Black lines instead of white lines in the lane and red for the rest of the lines.

    2. No parallel vertical lines in the lane like before.

    3. The court looks like a lighter tone of wood.

    4. No gray in the free throw circle area.

As long as they use the lighter tone of wood then its fine. That yellow **** in that pic looks horrendous.

nice catch...i saw it earlier and initially thought it was a different location because something was off, but i ignored it after seeing it was the practice court....I liked the AS game layout and wanted them to copy that, as well as the lighting..

BMD, the Houston Rockets wordmark doesn't have the black outline anymore. Also make the full court the lighter tone of the inside the 3 point line if you can.

Anyone have NBA 2k16 to recreate the court for a high def look at it?

No, I think you may be mistaken. The practice court has always had the same design as the home court.

Here was the most recent practice court. It matched the arena:

Before that, this was the practice court.. plain with red around the lane:

    Arena was the same:

And before that it was the court with the gray in the free throw line circle:

    It always matched.

I didn't mean for the Rockets specifically. IIRC a few teams had some changes to their practice courts that they didn't use on their real home floor. Such as retro logos or colors, etc. I very well could be mistaken still.

YES. This is the best floor design by far, but it's really the lighting as you mentioned that helped it. The new court would look just as good if our arena lighting was dark like that too.

Someone here made some nice floor concepts based on that, i can't remember who in order to give credit:

Does anyone in the NBA other than the Lakers darken the audience lighting?

That red is a different shade too....but that doesn't really make sense, if we're not changing the jersey red as well..maybe they'll do it when Nike takes over, but then why change the court a season before?
