http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/235401/Josh-Smith-Kenneth-Faried-Is-A-Clown Josh Smith had strong words for Kenneth Faried to Vincent Goodwill of the Detroit News on Thursday. Smith was responding to a quote from Faried in which he said that Smith "shot them out of the game." The Denver Nuggets defeated the Detroit Pistons by a final score of 89-79. Smith scored 25 points on 9-for-22 shooting. "He's a clown, quote me on that," said Smith. "He fears me. He's scared of me. He knows it's coming." I cant believe you didn't go with the "I don't respond to nobody with dreadlocks who plays basketball." quote from Josh Smith as the title for the thread. That **** is sig worthy.
[rQUOTEr]"I don't respond to nobody that has dreadlocks and plays basketball," Smith said. "I don't respond to people like that. The man's a clown, man. Quote me on that, too." "In order to make comments like that, you've got to be able to back it up, man. And we're going to see what happens next time. ... I'm gonna have some words while I'm bustin' his ass, you know what I'm saying? While I'm bustin' his ass. I back up what I talk. So it's going to be a pretty good matchup. [...] "He fears me," Smith said. "He's scared of me. So of course he's going to talk about me in the newspaper. He's not going to do it to my face. If you've got to hide behind a smart phone or a microphone or a recorder, so be it."[/rQUOTEr] [rQUOTEr]After talking all tough to the smart phones or mics or recorders about the guy in dreadlocks who put up 22 and 17 for the winning team, Smith let his play on the court continue to do the talking for him on Thursday night to the tune of 5-for-16 shooting, including one of the most infuriating, ill-timed three-pointers in the history of the second game of the season, and a team-worst minus-16 plus-minus. The Pistons play the Nuggets again at The Palace on Feb. 6. Let's hope Smith is traded by then so we don't have to witness the insanity continue. http://www.detroitbadboys.com/2014/10/30/7136305/josh-smith-calls-kenneth-faried-a-clown[/rQUOTEr] And folks want to trade for this guy. He's gonna change! He's gonna change! He's gonna be different here!
SVG may or may not be a terrible GM, but Josh Smith isn't on him. Smith was already signed to a big contract when SVG got there. SVG just hasn't managed to find a deal for him yet. It's an ill-fitting roster SVG inherited. I suspect he'll take the axe to it but it is gonna take a little time to figure things out. As for Smith-- the harder he tries to bust some opponent's ass in a game, sometimes it's worse for his team since his effort tend to involve an increased amount of bad shot selection. And what's with the dreadlocks hate? Brian Grant had himself a nice career, no? Smith can be a very effective player though. In the right circumstances I'd like to have him on the team. Just got to work out that shot selection thing.
It was Joe Dumars was the one who signed Smith last season, SVG took over this season as Dumars' replacement.
Jodie Meeks (three years, $18.8 million) Caron Butler (two years, $9 million) Maybe not the best signings
