[BS Report] 03/09/15 - Kevin Love to Houston, Harden MVP

Don't really want Love to be honest. My main priority if I was morey in the offseason would be to resign smith and brewer and try to acquire a free agent guard to compliment Harden (ie.mo Williams). We don't need love, this team is almost there as it is, he would set us back.

 

I have no doubt that Daryl Morey will be chasing him. Gotta get that 3rd superstar. But is he really a superstar?

 

I think it's a natural reaction to the hate the Rockets get.

 

Wouldn't hate this at all. Hopefully the #14 pick turns into a productive player like a Dmo or Jones too.

Still with Dmo and Jones extensions looming and with Howard's health concerns would it really be that crazy to unload some of the depth for Love?

 

Bill Simmons [speculation]: Morey would be willing to trade Dwight to make room for Love. (slowly raises eyebrow).

Also, I have to respect the very rational take on the MVP race.
- Harden is probably the MVP.
- Take Harden off the Rockets, replace him with a mediocre SG, Rockets are a lottery team. Take Curry off Warriors, replace him with mediocre PG, Warriors are a playoff team
- Take Harden off the Rockets, put Curry on, the Rockets are as successful.

However, hard not to vote for Curry if the Warriors have one of the most successful regular seasons of all time.

 

So, trade Dwight for Love, then sign DeAndre to a max deal?

Kevin Love's defense males me cringe.

He is a really bad low post defender.

I would rather not see him in a Rockets uniform.

 

i'd rather have healthy dwight.

 

TJones / DMo to Love is not the upgrade it once was.

 

Why would Love be happy here?

 

I'd trade Howard for LMA. Not so much for Love.

 

Each to their own obviously, but I would not be gutting depth for Kevin Love. He isn't worth the cost to me. Matador defense, streaky three point shooter (obviously a better spacer than smith, jones and dmo) but I would be in favour or retaining our current role players and finding an upgrade over Beverley, relegate bev to the bench, and find a back up center on the cheap (dalembert anyone?) and that's a championship team that can contend with anyone.

 

I see Love very happy being with Lakers next season.

 

Me too. But you have to wonder if we will ever get the old Dwight back. Kevin Love is still a rather young guy and the option definitely deserves a look. I just don't think you trade Dwight after only 2 years. You have to give this squad more time to grow.

No Love. Not anymore. We've got a damn good forward rotation. Let's not screw it up. If Dwight can't stay healthy, I'd rather get another center rather than a soft 4 like Love who doesn't play defense.
