Melo to use his "big black book" to recruit free agents

    NY won't have any cap room until 2015, with their big contracts expiring (http://data.shamsports.com/content/pages/data/salaries/knicks.jsp) and only if they most everyone but Melo go (including most notably Tyson Chandler) and don't sign any other long-term FAs in 2014.

    Melo is a very good player, but do elite players want to play with Melo? Do players want to join forces with a 31-year old Melo signed to a huge max contract?

    I am dubious, but then again maybe NYK really doesn't have much of a choice.
