Before I add "33" to my sig again, does anybody know whether the Rockets have signed Charles Oakley to a second 10-day contract? Hmmm, will Eddie get "33" again if he returns? (Just pulling your chain, anti-EG boardsters.)
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/2471754 Apparently, it is up to Oakley whether or not he wants another 10 day contract with the Rockets. Nice move for the Rockets to do for the vets like Oakley and Jackson. Hope it does not backfire and have Oakley go over to a Rocket playoff rival and give away any inside information.
Would he then be eligible to make the playoff roster? Isn't there some sort of cutoff that requires you to have all your players signed for the season by April somethingeth if you plan on using them in the playoffs?
This has been discussed many times, just look at the Tim Hardaway situation last year, he was signed late (march 27th to be exact) in the season with the Pacers but that cut off date that was passed was for people off of waivers (Rod Strickland, Brevin Knight) in which doesnt apply to Oakley since he was not on any other team this year. So, yes, he is qualified to be on the playoff roster.
Torraye Braggs, waived by the Rockets has continued his journey around the world. Having played in the Philippines previously, the burly Braggs is now playing with the Philippine Basketball Association for the Ginebra Gin makers. He scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in his first game. His team lost 102-98 to a Shell team featuring a Danish white guy, Marek Ondera who playing for University of California-Irvine.
sshoulder injuries usually take under 2 weeks or 4 weeks or around 6 months depending on how severe the injury. i'd hazard a guess that cato is looking at a 4 week lay off?
Thank for your info, dfbreyes I really miss this guy. I don't think it's wise for Rox Management to waive such a decent role player till now.
