Injury update By now, the Rockets had hoped to have their rotation set and to get the bugs worked out for the start of the regular season, which is just nine days away. Instead, the goal is to get the members of the rotation on the court. "We don't really know what our set rotation is now," assistant coach Larry Smith. "We don't have one. We just play it by ear with the guys we have." The Rockets, with six players out for every preseason game so far, are headed in the right direction. Walt Williams (back spasms), Eddie Griffin (sprained right ankle), Cuttino Mobley (strained hip flexor) and Steve Francis (sore knees) all are listed as probable for tonight's game against the Spurs. Center Kelvin Cato (sprained right wrist) is questionable. Forward Glen Rice (sore back) is out. But with so many of the injuries temporary, unlike the foot injury suffered by the Magic's Mike Miller against the Rockets on Friday that could keep him out six weeks, coach Rudy Tomjanovich isn't looking for pity. "It could be worse," he said.
It will be pretty cool to finally see Griffin in action. Why is Cato pussing out so much? After he hurt himself on monday, he came back into the game later on. It seemed like it was hurting him, but not enough to keep him out long enough. So its only Cato and Rice that are out now?
It isn't Cato's decision not to play. The Rockets are holding him out as a precaution. Everything I've heard indicates he would play if this were the regular season but they don't want to risk aggrivating his injury in the preseason. Same thing goes for Rice.
It will be nice to see most of the rockets actually play. the team definetly needs this time to gell and get a feel for one another. Lets hope no one else goes down in the pre-season
