I always wanted the ones that signed minimum deals to have larger contracts

2016 will be the craziest year for free agency in NBA history by far. Good theater for fans.

Probably several free agents this summer will sign one-year deals and try to hit the jackpot next year because the cap will be nearly 50% higher. LMA, Marc Gasol, Deandre Jordan, Jimmy Butler, Kawhi, Dragic, Kevin Love have something to think about. Even lesser players might do it.

i thought the cba dictated the maximum about a player can get and not the salary cap. The high cap would only mean that there would be more suitors for their services.

Which means more team stacking. This is the first time in a couple decades in which I like how things are. It would be nice to fix the playoff imbalance.

The max salary is a function of the salary cap in any given year. (Well, they're both functions of BRI, calculated very similarly. But still.)

The true max contracts are a percentage of the cap. So a cap jump will make those max contracts jump.

That's ridiculous, the NBA is such a joke. Here I thought the lock-out maybe changed things, but that massive TV deal was the worst thing that could happen. This will only get players more greedy and you'd figure they were already making enough...

I wonder how those teams which are struggling financially will cope with this increase. The rich is going to get richer. The poor will go bust? Interesting...

This increase is coming from TV contracts. TV contracts are divided equally among teams. The poor are getting richer in this case.

I assume you're joking, but if not this is a ridiculous stance. Who would you prefer gets the additional money if not the players? The poor underpaid owners?

If there is extra money it should go to the players first.

A good time considering we need room for a third star.

Charity, no reason to increase the cap by this much.

They won't, the salary cap has no effect on minimum salaries.

The salary cap is going up because all the teams are getting way more money, and they have to give 50% of it to the players.

That's just dumb... the NBA is a business. Players deserve to get paid as much as the market is willing and able to pay them.
