This is a long shot, but what the hell. I need to hire an HPD officer, constable or campus police officer for a 4 hour gig at a City Community Center on April 12th (early afternoon) watching to make sure none of us cc.net basketball players get into fights during the Smeggy World Tour pick-up game. lol. Right now HPD Personnel Dept told me going through them is the most expensive way to go ($30/hr), and Rice Campus Police quoted the same. HPD recommended getting an officer privately rather than through their office, as an officer who is a friend of the group can and will work for less. Steak dinner provided to the officer!
Well.... My parents next neighbor is an HPD, his son is one of my gooood friends, we play ball all the time. Let me talk to him. If that doesn't work, I have an HPD officer that owes me for doing some computer work for him...
btw: I have until this Friday to find someone; otherwise, I have to do the formal hiring. The Community Center manager promised me all that I needed was any security guard. That ended up being wrong. sigh. Only HPD, Constables and Campus Police qualify.
Ok I'll be going to my parents tonight. I'll try to talk to him, if I don't see him then I will for sure tomorrow.
heypartner you may also want to try the Sheriff's dept. they pick up odd jobs all over the place, they too will command $20-$30 an hour though...
If A-Train's idea doesn't work out, I think RM95 knows that cop from the Village People. I think that guy has done some "pro bono" work at the YMCA before.

heypartner, seriously, I wonder if AnotherBrother could recommend anyone? How long has it been since he was on the force? He might at least have an idea about where you could ask. Sorry, RM95. But without Dave Matthew's jokes and jokes about your orientation, I am down to only 2318 sources of possible humor. The pain is eased by my excellent showing in the NCAA swirve bracket though.
My best friend is a Federal Agent with the A.T.F. He might do it for $75 bucks if I ask him nicely. Would he be qualified?
Sorry HeyP my testing for Harris County isn't until May 3rd. You might want to ask the sheriff's dept. like someone recommended. They pick up extra jobs all the time (like Sunday parking/traffic control at my church) and you could probably find someone to take the extra work, depending on pay.
I think the second one from the right is an officer of the law...I mean he's got the spiffy hat and all...maybe he's in for some side-night action.
