Best flours I've ever had were homemade by an ranchworking hombre from San Felipe de Guanajuato. Anyone that says Mexicans don't eat those is full of ****.
Yeah, I mean Tex Mex use mostly flour, but that doesn't mean it isn't part of the traditional cuisine
Right, I was just saying (poorly) that anyone who says Mexicans don't eat flour tortillas is just wrong.
It really depends on what I'm eating - with a carne asada or say chorizo y juevos or chorizo and potato tacos I'll go with flour but for barbaco and everything else, corn.
flour totillas have a funky taste i can't get around. it's that unleavened bread taste i think but somehow tortillas seem to be extra strong.
If I'm gonna just grab a tortilla for a snack and eat it with nothing, flour. For tacos, usually corn. Fish and Shrimp tacos in flour tho
It depends on the food. Most of the time I'm a flour tortilla person. But there are certain dishes that corn goes better with. If I'm just eating a plain tortilla, then it'll be flour. There's one place here in LA that makes the best home made flour tortillas I've ever had. It's called Home State and is made by people from Texas. It's one of the few places here that have migas and they're delicious. There's another purely local place here that has the best home made corn tortillas and the second best flour tortillas ever. It's really small and very authentic.
At my local Mexican taco truck (which makes some bomb ass tacos), blacks and whites always order flour. But all the raza orders corn. Some of those other peeps even ask for cheese. I'm like "wtf? This ain't Taco Bell." At least the taco truck charges for cheese and they gladly pay. Lol
