Better QB than any prospect coming out this year. He has the arm talent we've been dreaming of. I would give the pats a second round pick for Ryan..

Would I take him over Yates? Yes. Maybe in 2 years he's better than Schaub.

Aren't the Patriots high on him? I remember hearing something like that a while back.

He might be better then schaub now but its impossible to tell. Its a gamble, I could give them a 3 but not a 2.

seeing as how we have a late 2nd, i wouldnt be upset if they used a 2nd to grab him. we didnt even have a 2nd last year after we traded it for a 3rd..

mallet is a big 6'6", strong arm, can move around in the pocket, and is smart.. plus hes a texas hs qb, those kids seem to have a leg up on everyone else, mallet would just add to the long list of former texas hs qbs currently starting in the NFL..

if he was to land here i would be pulling for schaub to find his way to the IR..

He's not smart. Watch some of his Arkansas loses. He's from Texarkana which might as well be Arkansas. So he has no leg up.

When he was at Arkansas, he tended to choke in critical situations. Maybe he's developed beyond that now? Otherwise he was pretty solid.

I've always liked him. He's slow though. Slow with a gun.

pretty much this. A 2nd round for a guy who has proved absolutely nothing since being drafted in the 3rd?

I really don't see the justification for giving up a higher pick than the one spent on him initially. I guess maybe it's because he's had 2 years as a backup/3rd stringer. But he's barely played in the regular season (and is only 1/4 with an INT when he has) and he's never really impressed during the preseason, so I'm not sure what he's done since he was drafted to improve his stock.

Schaub had played in 38 real games and seen some significant action including a couple of starts at the time the Texans traded for him. Mallett has played mop up minutes in 4 games. So yes, there was more of a clear picture of what Schaub could do in the league than there currently is for Mallett.
