New Conan boardgame in development on kickstarter right now. It's a miniature heavy board game where one player controls the villains and the other players control the heroes thru different scenarios. You can watch the game play overview here: The base pledge is $90 and gets you everything except for the very last section at the bottom which requires an upgrade to the king pledge:
The board pieces look cool. Looks like they are carved out of butter or human flesh or something. But who is the target audience for something like this? Magic the Gathering players?
Board game players who like games like Arcadia Quest, Star Wars: Imperial Assault, or Heroquest, and miniature game players, like Warhammer, ect. Also people who just like to paint the models and fans of Conan.
Board game players. Board games have come a LONG way since Monopoly and Risk. You can buy miniature based board games at Target and Walmart these days. $90 isn't a huge amount for a quality board game with miniatures that will give you hundreds of hours of gameplay.
They will have a bunch of different scenarios, but basically, up to 4 players choose heroes to play as a team, and another player plays all the villains and monsters, with different objectives depending on the scenario. For example, one scenario is to find and rescue a princess from a Pict barbarian village before time runs out and the Pict war party returns from hunting. The rules and a print and play setup with two sample scenarios is posted on kickstarter now. The Kickstarter is entering the last 2 days now. Lots more stretch goals unlocked adding more free stuff to what you get. And some more examples of the pieces after painting them: Spoiler
