eh. bringing back a team that got to the WCF's and adding Ty Lawson was a no brainer. you take that chance. it didn't work out. his player's decided they didn't want to defend and the team got cold from the arc. he'll sign a good coach, revamp the roster with real defenders (not just guys depending on their reputation), and a few sharp shooters and we'll be ready to roll.
Do you not like 22-game win streaks? I'm glad you voted him to the Houston Rockets all-decade team of the 2000's.
Most of his moves just make sense to me and the few that don't are usually later revealed to be good moves. i know it sounds like double-think (if the move works out Morey gets the credit, if it doesn't, someone else gets the blame) but that's a shallow, cynical reading of it. Using Ty Lawson as an example - if Ty had come here and gotten a DWI, i could see blaming Morey for that. "You knew this guy had a drinking problem - you gotta keep an eye on this guy". If Ty had gotten here and played great with Harden off the court and poorly with Harden on the court, i could see blaming Morey for that. "You knew this guy needed the ball in his hands and was a bad fit next to Harden. He's good off the bench but they can't play together". That scenario is a partial win for us because at least we'd have some bench scoring. But it just doesn't work saying, "Morey, you knew Ty Lawson forgot how to play basketball. That he went from perennial All-Star *Level* Talent to scrub in one off season. Give us back our #15 pick, nick johnson, and Kpap." Btw, the #15 pick at nba draftnet this year is a 6'9 PF.
