It'll be mallet. Hoyer is there if he sucks.

If he's saying that then that means he probably has already decided who it will be barring some major sucktitude

I think it was always going to be Mallett barring "major sucktitude"

Hoyer has never not sucked.....so it'll be Mallett.

I'm thinking Mallett but who knows it could very well be Hoyer.

If that were true, we wouldn't be having a qb competition

If Fitz was the starter from having the off-season with the Texans on Mallett

then Mallett will be the starter base on just having the entire year with the Texans vs Hoyer

    think that's how obrien swings

I don't know that you can really call it a QB competition if it's decided before preseason games are played.

Exactly. I don't think it's a real QB competition, Hoyer is just insurance. If BOB really was that unsure about Mallett, we'd have brought back Fitz. Hoyer could barely keep a starting job over JFF....he's the very definition of "veteran insurance"

You could easily say the opposite. If they were that sure about Mallet, they wouldn't have bothered with Hoyer and any kind of competition. Mallet could barely outplay Fitz.

Hoyer got a significantly bigger contract, with more than twice as much guaranteed.

I know for whatever reason you fail to understand it, but Fitz was actually pretty good last year....like top 10 QB rating in the NFL.

Also, you ALWAYS bring in veteran depth when you are going with a young QB.....and if the competition could be over before the pre-season games, it wasn't actually a QB competition.

Nah he sucked and was benched.

O'Brien said "They're out here competing (in OTAs and at mandatory minicamp) every single day, and it's pretty intense. "

If it's Hoyer then you know that this season is going nowhere.

With the easy schedule I think we could still stay competitive even with Hoyer, but it would certainly be a bummer.....it would all but ensure worse QB play than we had last year.

Based on all the tweets from people who have been at ota's it sounds like Hoyer has been better so far. I'm guessing he runs the offense the way O'Brien would like it to be run. Also O'Brien values accuracy and that has always been the knock on Mallett.

Yeah but that's not a real game scenario, his career has shown us that in real game scenarios Hoyer is not accurate at all. At least Fitz had a few decent seasons in the past, Hoyer has always been garbage.

If he's any more than veteran insurance, the Texans are in trouble.
