This guy has been putting up some crazy stats so far this season. 20 points 18 rebound effort today vs Phoenix Season Stats: PPG:14.1 RPG:14.7 FG%:51% FT%:77% He has my vote for the All-Star game this season
That game was a blowout for most of the second half. Varejao has been a key player and a reason why they've stayed competitive in games even though the results were losses. That said for him to be the go to big man is telling in how much of a bust Tristan Thompson is.
Varejao is 30 and probably at his prime so i would rather have Asik who is younger and who can get even better.
you can have both....trade Patterson, Aldrich and Cook for Varejao and Gibson....and Varejao will be the perfect backup
It's no surprise why Morey had a hard-on for this guy. He was oh so close to have been doing this in a Rockets uniform. Even though Morey wasn't able to land Andy...it's a testament to his Moreyball/talent evaluation skills. When there was rumors that we were going hard after Varejao this summer...the board was nearly rioting in disgust. Who knew?? This guy of course.
Funny you asked Asik or him because I was just comparing stats of those 2 guys. I have Varejao on my fantasy team and he's been a beast so far.
Yes, I was one of those who was disgusted at the thought of it. But it was more due to him being an old guy who'll be coming to a perennial .500 club. I did always believe he was a solid defender(those Cleveland teams had incredible defenses). But I just can't root for him. I just hate him. Similar to Boozer. Even if he ever puts up 20/10 in a Rockets uniform, I still can't cheer for him as an individual.
He's developed a jump shot and if he keeps it up, definitely should be an allstar along with Kyrie. Unfortunately due to a thin roster, and injury to Kyrie, I don't think they'd ever put two all stars from the same team that has a really bad winning percentage, so it's going to be Kyrie.
Why is this even a question? Asik's like 5 years younger and is a legit C. Varejao's really a PF. He's turned into a beas defensively, but he's also 29 and in his absolute prime.
That and he's become one of the most injury-prone players in the league these past few years. Other than that he's doing pretty awesome for my fantasy team.
