Looks like PHI needs an outside LB. Might go to Linebacker U for Mike Hull, Penn State or Jake Ryan, Michigan?
This exercise shows how tough it is to be a GM/ talent evaluator in the NFL. I had the 7th pick in each round ended up with a talented receiver (Kevin White) who came onto the scene late, a QB (Bryce Petty) that has many of the tools to be good but may or may not be a product of a QB friendly system and a 3-4 DE (Mario Edwards) that has never quite lived up to his talent. Realistically one of the 3 will be a long-time starter in this league, one a career back-up and one will probably be out of the league in 4 yrs or less. The question is which player will fit into which category.
My philosophy was to trade down and acquire extra picks to help fill a lot of holes on the Raiders. Slipping down to 9, I felt that DeVante Parker was too good to pass up. I feel he has the best hands in the draft and reminds me of a DeAndre Hopkins type receiver. I think he is better than Kevin White who definitely fits the mold of a stud WR, but he only really did it for one season. In Round 2 I felt good about getting Odighizuwa who is very good against the run. In Round 3 I felt that Ameer Abdullah was a good value (Mayock has him as 3rd rated back) who can help what was an abysmal run game last year. With an extra pick in the fold, I felt like I could trade down again and still get the player I wanted, which was Arie Koundijo. With the 4th round picks, the Raiders would have targeted an inside LB and defensive back, with the latter rounds focusing on trying to find some depth on the lines and maybe taking a flier on another receiver late.
