I feel dumber after reading the reader comments... So should New Zealand have a statue of Steven Adams...?

This is fake. The real Lin statue would have him jump in the air with nowhere to go and throw the ball away.

It would be pretty funny if that was done intentionally.

Gallery visitor: "Wait, where's the basketball?"
Art student wearing all black: "Exactly. Where is. The basketball."

That is utterly not true. He said that he considers himself both Taiwanese and Chinese in the interview I saw.

Being Chinese doesn't necessarily refer to being the citizens of the people's republic of China, a lot of times it just means ethnic Chinese or not.

either way, Lin is more American than anything

That statue could use some polish, the finish is a little streaky.

Modern art! Ain't it grand? I still remember staring at plates of food stuck on canvas at a modern art museum. Dirty plates of food. Food partly eaten, for those from Rio Linda. I can't recall how it was done, but there were about 20 plates of food up there on the wall. That was 41 years ago, in a museum in Amsterdam, and I can still see those dirty plates of food on the wall in my mind's eye. I'd say that was a successful show, wouldn't you? (or I'm nuts - take your pick)

If that statue of Jeremy, as ludicrous as it may look to us here and now, does something for those folks in Taiwan, then kudos to the artist. He/she accomplished, hopefully, the intent of the work. (it does look awful!)

That's no statue. Are you sure they didn't just spray paint some karate action figure?
