He knows he is about to get a max. If Parsons and Hayward deserve it, he definitely does.

    This is not surprising.

Bulls had to know they were low balling him. Wonder what that's about. He is twice the player parsons and Hayward are.

Jimmy Butler knows better. He's shooting for $15 per at a minimum.

Wouldn't he be an RFA? Bulls have no need to offer him some crazy contract. Better to just let the free market decide what he's worth.

The Bulls are trying to play him for a chump. The cap is about to go up so they would have him for pennies if he signs that deal. And if he hits the free agent market Chicago can kiss him goodbye because teams are going to throw cash at him like he's a stripper. He'll be the hottest thing on the market. The Lakers and Knicks will be banging down his door.

He'll be a RFA and I'm going to guess they aren't going to Presti him. They'll resign him at whatever he signs for.

    Exactly.
Anything is a bargain considering the cap will be amplified in two years.

I think a team(s) will offer him a max contract and I'm not sure Chicago will match it.

    Lately?

Bulls have paid the luxury tax once in the past 10 years (2012/13, and only were above the salary cap by $3 million).

Honestly, I'm not even sure that in the 1990s they were over the cap even with MJ and Pippen and the whole rest of their gang.

Pippen was historically underpaid. Highest salary he ever made in one year in Chicago was $3 million. And prior to MJ returning to the Bulls after baseball, his season salary maxed out at $3 million as well.

Bulls are extremely cheap, which is incredible given they're the 4th most profitable NBA team

    Once.

But the Rockets have been much more willing to spend in other, more efficient, ways. They amnestied Scola with 3 seasons left on his rather expensive contract in order to create cap room to go after a star (Dwight in summer 2012). They also paid millions in cash to other teams and players whose contracts they took on and waived in order to obtain draft picks and assets.

I like how we pick our battles, stay in the mix, and not tank. With Morey, we will be perrenial contenders for years to come by developing the talent and bring in a couple of big names once in a while. And all the while, finally implementing a defensive system. Clint capela, along side of dmo will I think will be a HUGE defensive advantage. That guy has 7'4"" wing span at 6'10" and quick ups will be huge for us going down the road.

The Rockets have never been in a position to pay the luxury tax, that's because they never had the chance to build a contender prior to last season so paying the lux tax makes zero sense when you don't even have 1 superstar on the team. However, the owner always spends extra in other more efficient ways, the Rox are always buying 2nd round and low first rounders in the draft, they amnestied Scola to free up capspace and of course the Rox have always had high profile coaches like Mchale, JVG, Adelman and Rudy T. Not only that the Rox were actually planning to pay the lux tax last season, if Bosh had signed with Houston they would have matched whatever Parsons got on the market.

The Bulls on the other hand have just been really lucky and skilled when it comes to front office decisions, however the owner clearly just treats the franchise as a cash cow and funnels all the cash to his white sox team. Whereas you have Les Alexander going on record how he has enough money and not enough championships, it's pretty ridiculous how good the Bulls would've been if only the owner didn't sell their draft picks for cash over the last decade or so.

.....sorry I can't but help and laugh at this. You're talking about contending and winning rings, when the guy doesn't have any post season success to show for it. The one win was due to the guy he ended up firing.

Les can go on record and say all the crap he wants. The fact of the matter is that the only reason the rockets haven't tanked and avoided this "terrible thing" thank fans have been led into believing is so he doesn't go into loss. A lot of the moves the rockets make don't even make sense from a competitive angle...take the Lin signing for example. They paid a crap load, but still ended up profiting due to marketing him.
