He is so amazing, I will be so depressed if the Astros let him go any time soon. He hits like Nomar did before his injury, knocking first pitches in the at-bat into left and center field for singles. He is able to get multiple hits off any pitcher any night, and this is a rookie!! Not to mention he hustles and uses his head on the field with the best of them in the league. I haven't read this forum much so maybe this has been said over and over again but I just had to say it again. That is all.
It will be interesting: Pence has 390 Plate Appearances before tonight's game. With 23 games left, and if he averages 5 Plate Appearances in each game (pretty probably), he'll qualify for the batting title. After tonight's hit, he is @ .330 and the leader is @ .336. Of course, Braun will soon qualify for the lead too. Would be an interesting story to see two rookies battle it out for the NL batting title.
Look at Barry Bonds in his first few seasons. With Pence it's about bat speed. It's not about muscle. Look what happened to Hidalgo...added more muscle and it slowed his bat down.
that goofy look of his at the plate will definitely get him traded. his batting mechanics are all screwed up. not worth the risk.
he's a keeper! man, if charley casserly's fat twin brother, timmy poopooruh, had not traded tavares, pence would still be playing at round rock!
Is he a keeper? Yes Can he be traded? Yes If Boston was stupid enough to trade Josh B. for Hunter P. Would you do it? HELL F%$#^^# yeah...
No way. Beckett is older and much more expensive. Despite his great year this year he's been inconsistent and struggled with injuries throughout his career. Hunter is a keeper.
Why would the Astros trade a young, superstar centerfielder under club control for multiple years with a .900+ OPS, good speed and solid defense for a pitcher with a career 3.75 ERA who has a history of injuries and has pitched 200 innings once in his career?
I say Hunter Pence is a keeper, however I think he needs to be sent to the minors for a good 2/3 more years.. it's not that he isn't good enough, its just he is to confident.. The astros can't handle a player with a little confidence yet, we all saw what happend to Lidge when he was confident, no way will I let them destroy poor ol' Hunter.
