umm "There is no question Yao Ming has skills. Just seeing him play for a few minutes in the first half in San Antonio confirmed that. The sweet little turnaround, the baseline spin, the intimidation in the paint and the soft touch-passes were confirmation the big fella can ball. And if Juaquin Hawkins was a bit more aware, Yao would have had the assist of the night.

What he will need to learn are all the little things that will come with time and experience. Learning to move his feet and play defense with his body is one thing. He picked up fouls on just awkward movements that he'll correct. He'll also need to get a better grasp on reading the defense from the post. It took a certain Nigeran center almost 10 years to figure that out, but Yao is already well ahead of that.

What is certain is that the NBA is neither too strong nor too fast for Yao. He got banged around and held his ground. He got up and down the floor quickly and easily even though it seemed the game was a bit quicker than he expected. Even more importantly, it is obvious he knows the game. He sees the floor as well as anyone and doesn't force it and he makes intellegent plays on the floor.

When he adjusts to the speed and physical nature of the game, he is going to be very difficult to defend and nearly impossible to get around defensively. Improvement should come fairly quickly for him and when it does, he will be something to see.

It's preseason, so lets get this BBS issue out of the way now as it's bound to happen every time Ming does not have 30 and 10...

I say morons, such as gun_gy, who have no identity here and come out of nowhere to register and post flame threads like this, adding no intelligent thought to any dicsussion, should be kicked right off the bat.

    Anyone against this policy?

Truth stings alittle huh? What Yao needs is more bulk which he will recieve....Not bad for a first game but clearly you can see he is somewhat lost out there.
    He will get better.

Real thing is Spurs can't punk us anymore like they used to.

If you're not a troll, then why would you say
    "Truth stings a little huh?"

    That sounds vendictive to me.

That's like saying, "Ha ha ha, Yao sucks."

    Then say, "Yao Rules!!!"
