Talk about the series here. Please no PBP in this thread. Unless otherwise noted all games are on CSN-H (for about 40% I guess).

9-5 Brett Oberholtzer, LHP vs. Jeff Samardzija, RHP 9:05

9-6 Scott Feldman, RHP vs. Scott Kazmir, LHP 3:05

9-7 Dallas Keuchel, LHP vs. Jason Hammel, RHP 3:05

When I was looking up updated HR leaders, I noticed that Abreu is stuck on 33. I didn't realize he has gone that cold.

Kind of sucks...Springer would have had a decent shot at ROY if he stayed healthy.

Eh, let me take that back. He's only cooled off HR-wise, I guess.

Either Lawless has a better grasp of what this bullpen is really capable of, or the front office charts/graphs are calling all the right moves.

Just got done watching the condensed game, and it was a poor defensive effort all around, especially in that 3rd inning. Glad we pulled it out, as the team pitched very well, just suffered defensive miscues and some bad luck that led to some runs.

I am curious as to why Qualls wasn't in the game. He's obviously struggled against Oakland, so I applaud the choice, but I'd be interested if there was another reason.

I like it that they stayed with Sipp for 2 innings to close it out

Well, wasn't Sipp absolutely clobbered by Oakland last time?

Maybe Lawless wasn't just going by any numbers/graphs/charts... and liked Sipp's "stuff" last night.

That's one (of many) things analytics cannot take into account and why we could never really have a computer manage everything... sometimes players have "it", and some nights their arms are crap (even if they've had adequate rest, etc.).

Also, interesting to note that as soon as we have a late inning lead, Grossman is out of there for defensive purposes (replaced by Pressley both times). Chances are, his days as leadoff hitter are numbered when Springer comes back.
