If I were him I would deny it right away. If it's true the whole league is going to see him as a joke and people will point the finger at him for messing up a good thing with Lin. Unless he wants to be the next Marbury...shut up and play.

Good for us though. Hopefully he's doing his best to make things as bad as possible there.

The New York Post is a tabloid. It's less reliable than Hoopsworld.

Give them back their pick and Martin. That's all Melo is worth on that contract. Dead serious

    This.

They have no credibility, especially when it comes to sports reporting.

It is actually better to be traded.... You mentioned Marbury.... he thrived in China... so change of scenery could be a win for him.

I agree with this; while wondering/worrying DM the GM will make a Melo push.

I believe it if it came from Stephen A. Smith. The problem with the Knicks is you can't have both Amare and Melo on the same team.

I think Melo is trying to push out both D'Antoni and Amare.

Perhaps DM had inside information about this and that's why the Bogut/Jackson trade to Houston didn't happened ...

No D -Antoni is gone long before any player is.

Read some of the articles on today's hoopsworld.com and you'll get an idea of why they're such a mess (NY).

They won't trade Carmelo. They'll fire D'Antoni. But they need a no-B.S. coach. Phil Jackson might be past wanting to coach, but they need someone who'll be tough on the stars, not give them free rein or lack the spine to tell them what they need to hear.

I think D'Antoni is a mediocre coach, but I also honestly think the Knicks have a serious personnel problem here.

Lin and Melo = both need the ball in their hands.
Amare = best with an unselfish guy who can create good shots for him (ala Nash), and maybe not that much gas left in the tank.
All three = Below average defenders.

I don't see a system where Lin, Melo, and Amare complement each other well. Better coaching would probably lead to improvement, playoffs in the East, but the Knicks aren't contending for a championship with this squad in my opinion.
