Um, taking issue with terminology is really relevant here. If they were "selling" fetal tissue and affecting interstate commerce, there'd be jail time involved. Likewise to the difference between fetal tissue transport and "baby parts".

The only noise here is purported illegality. Nothing PP has done here is illegal.

Confronted with that reality, people on one side of the argument are now trying to "defund" a non-for-profit health organization which cannot use federal funds for its relatively small abortion practice. This is vindicative at its core: instead of acknowledging due process, people want to score "moral" victories by attacking a system that has sent lawful abortions, maternal deaths, and infant mortality to historic lows.

Why?

Somebody needs to make noise.

 

And the reason why people refer to fetal tissue transfer is because there's a well-defined set of laws and ethics on the medical and legal side based on fetal tissue transfer.

But like if you want to have an alternative debate based on nothing outside of those fields, you can call it anything you like I suppose. Unborn baby bits. Unicorn juice. what's the difference, it's all noise.

It's getting to be an old story about these guys being misled. Carly Fiorina was made to look silly over the weekend when questioned about her debate statement and she refused to back down, despite being able to come up with real evidence.

 

It doesn't matter that it's false; it furthers the cause. If your mindset is that Planned Parenthood deserves to be defunded, the accuracy of the videos is beyond the point. The insular echo chamber in which you get your news is never going to say "You know what, we got this one wrong," so you'll never be forced to consider reality.

 

I am just grossed out by their callous attitude towards human life-- whether for profit or not.

Couple of observations:

1. wonder what they mean by "selling" because the PP folks clearly talk about dollar value. You can always "sell" something for no profit. Is that the game being played?

2. Money is sponge-able. Once it comes into their coffers, do they operate separate accounts to pay for abortion procedures... money which comes directly from donations?

Interesting the way you have exonerated all of PP because of a couple of investigations.
