Pretty much no. I responded with a little more detail in the other thread. I do believe that at times businesses and govts. do things in secret that they believe will be for the betterment of the nation, and will be mutually beneficial for those involved, but not in a sinister way. I do believe that while no cures for AIDS etc. really exist, that drug companies won't spend money in research areas that wouldn't be beneficial to them. But I don't believe they gathered in a room with a known cure and made a pledge to never let the secret cure formula out, while laughing sinister laughs.

i believe the U.S is the greatest hegemon since than THE ROMAN EMPIRE...because of its ability to use information....and manipulate the mob....it has its people more concerned with Hollywood/Sports/Debt ...just like how the Roman empire created "the games" to keep the mob's mind on other things.
Not saying that I believe it, but I think you will find that there is a sizeable percentage of the population that AIDS was in some way created by the United States government as a means of population control. I'm surprised that wasn't one of the choices as when I think "conspiracy theory", that's the first example that comes to my mind.

Other ideas for conspiracies: Was AIDS intentionally created? Was the government and/or mafia truly behind the Kennedy assasination? Did the gov't know about 9/11 before it happened? Is the gov't in bed with the mafia and large drug cartels? I can squeeze one more into another poll. Any suggestions?
Well I'm not changing my vote because I believe the government has evidence of a lot of things but also doesn't have evidence about a lot of things.
History has been rewritten to favor the victors. I don't know if that's considered a conspiracy to you guys, but I consider it one.

Yes, I am convinced. Is the gov't in bed with the mafia and large drug cartels? I am convinced. The views of history are that major events happen by chance. And/or major events happen on purpose (the conspiracy view) One of Bill Clinton's mentors was CARROLL QUIGLEY, professor of history at the Foreign Service School of Georgetown University, and professor at Princeton and at Harvard who wrote Tragedy & Hope: A History of the World in Our Time. This is an excellent book to start on to understand the players behind the major events of history.
The odds are that atleast one of the major American conspiracy theories is true. It sends chills down my spine when taking this into consideration and how little we commoners know about this world we live in and just at how much mercy we lie at the hands of the powerful. Of the many listed above, the one that troubles me the most is the one regarding the creation of AIDS. I was hoping someone would come in here and dispel it as a myth to atleast put my mind at ease. I've skimmed through websites (whose credibility is questionable at best) which postulate that a certain government briefing was uncovered in which Kissinger in depth stated that the greatest threat to U.S. national security (in the future) would be overpopulation. The story goes on to mention other random details concerning work in American labs for the creation of a virus that would attack the human immune system (ie: the modern day AIDS). I don't know. I hope it's not true.
I can't believe no one's mentioned "the US government invented crack" theory yet. One of my favorite actual conspiracies is MKULTRA, the CIA's attempt to use LSD for mind control. Things went bad when they secretly drugged Frank Olson, a weapons specialist, and he jumped out of the tenth floor window of his hotel. President Ford publicly apologized years later.
