I must admit, watching professors freak out if students are openly carrying would be highly amusing.

I had no idea open carry was so prevalent in the States.

a few states have "constitutional carry", meaning no permit required, open or concealed

Yeah, I looked at the list of open carry states on wiki. In effect, 41 states allow some level of it.

I don't understand what the need for open carry is. Sure it would be funny to see folks walk around dressed up as Roy Rogers or Gene Autry, but outside of that, it wouldn't really serve any purpose at all.

I support gun rights, but not this. I don't know a single gun owner who supports open carry.

You should go to Blacksburg and walk around with a gun out - I bet you would be incredibly amused at the resulting freak out! ;)

Yes, because a bunch of 21 year old juniors and seniors with no advanced firearms training and zero experience handling a weapon under stress can play hero effortlessly without shooting bystanders.

Almost as fun as watching Ole Miss fratboys sniping at James Meredith.

Can't really expect an intelligent conversation when it comes to guns, some people are just irrationally afraid of them so it always becomes more emotional than intellectual. I'll never understand the paralyzing fear of inanimate objects that some have.

When you witness what that inanimate object is capable of doing to human flesh in person, you might have a different opinion.

You should try it holstered. I bet you would be incredibly amused at the resulting freak out! ;)

I'm actually willing to pitch in airfare to help you conduct this experiment. Maybe I will start a Kickstarter for you...

I have no fear of guns, as I own many. It's the people that worry me, idiots abound. If there was a serious background check/training/licensing component involved in this proposal, I would feel a whole lot better about it.

I feel the same way about automobiles.
