I'll merge this with the Minnesota trade thread, but as a result of something in MIN, the trade was altered, I'm being told.

The Rockets still gave up cash, but instead of Houston trading out the "other part" of the second round pick next year, the Rockets get Minnesota's second round pick next year if it's between 31-55 (very likely). If it's 56-60 it goes to Dallas.

Well, looks like that picks going to Dallas. Brad Miller automatically makes the Wolves a contender.

If between 56-60 is what I'm told. If between 31-55, it goes to Houston.

Nice. So we might have only given up something like pick 20 for pick 32 or so, and swapped Miller for Motiejunas and Flynn in the process.

    [insert Morey pic here!]

wow that makes this deal even better for the rockets a presumably high 2nd round pick in a loaded draft?

Do not get what "other part" means but ...

Minnesota's second round pick next year should be very high in the second round. Next year is supposed to be a very deep draft, so this does not suck.

you sure you have the facts straight? feigen made it sound like it's 1 trade INSTEAD of 2, and the 38 simply never changed hands.

We also have our own pick if we don't make the playoffs next year.

    It's:

    - Brad Miller, #23, 2013 Memphis protected 1st round pick and cash

    for

    Jonny Flynn, #20 and MIN's 2012 2nd round pick (if between 31 and 55).

I was told it was done as two separate deals, but it comes out to one in the end. I asked on it a few times, so I'm just going to say it's one trade because that's how it goes out from the league office.

gotcha. i guess also the 38 never changed hands, or feigen has bad info.

Jonathan_Feigen Rockets trade with Minnesota was amended. Now, never did trade pick 38 and get it back. Also instead of giving up 2-rounder, Rockets get it.

Sometimes, I feel really sorry for the T-wolves fans.

Kahn is the reason why the rumor that T-wolves would trade Kevin Love and a #2 pick for Gasol is not absolutely unbelivable. Anything can happen inside their draft room.

I believe he's refering to the second round broken up into two parts. IIRC, we were supposed to send them the pick if it fell in the second half of the second round, but now we don't and instead get their pick.

Maybe because it generates a (small) traded player exception this way?

What he's saying is right. The #38 never changed hands and that's what he's trying to say there.

The trade was being sorted out LAST minute. It's why the press conference was delayed and why initially the report was only Marcus Morris was going to be introduced (because they had to iron out something in the deal still).
