What do me and Jon Barry have in common? We will have both had surgery on a torn labrum. I had an appointment today with my orthopedist and had the MRI results explained to me and an arthroscopic operation was his only choice. I figured it was best to believe him since this guy has 20 years of experience. I guess now we know why my jumper was off at the pickup game last year. Anyway, I guess after all my rehab is done and my shoulder is back to normal, my jump shot will be as reliable as Jon Barry's. so next time I am able to play in a CF.net pick-up game, look out!
Good Luck with that. I had orthoscopic surgery July of last year to clean up some arthritis and an impingement in my shoulder . No tears though. Whoever said it's not painful is a lying SOB. It healed up pretty quick, but damn is it a painful ride to get there. I have to admit, I did like the 2 month supply of Hydrocodone!!!
Falcon, how did you deal with the anesthesia? I have trouble falling asleep as it is. Will it eliminate my nervousness? Do you feel totally relaxed?
I had a general anesthesia for it. It went through my IV. Not a problem...knocked me right out, and I remember acting goofy as it started taking effect. Relax and let it work its wonders. When you wake up, it's gonna be cold as hell (post op). Just chill and enjoy the rest. You'll probaby be out of there a few hours after you go in.
You're not going to believe this. Really. Two days ago, I had shoulder surgery for the exact same thing: torn labrum. i'm rehabbing right now -- drugged up, arm in sling, typing with one hand. during the surgery, it turns out that i had a torn roator cuff, as well, the 1st time in the doctor's 16 yrs that she fad seen that combination. drop me a line if you want to chat more about the procedure and the rehab. (although i might be slow to respond, given that typing takes forever.) good luck. your fellow torn labrum buddy, rasselas (lol - man that sounds WRONG!)
It's a Catch22. You can prevent cancer, but it comes at the risk of hurting yourself. Good luck with the surgery JBII, good luck with the rehab Rasselas.
JB, general anesthesia is just crazy/funny... They will bring the IV, hook it up, let you sit a while, then bring the syringe, add the anesthesia (probably without you even noticing). They usually hide the syringe from view when they are adding it to the IV. If you do see them add it...it wont matter....try couting down from 10, 9, 8, 7....you will be...as.....sle..p....e......befor.....yu r..ch....6......Zzzzzzzzzzzzz I'm telling you, that stuff is powerful!
