As of today, this dude is projected to be drafted in the bottom half of the second round. If you guys want Morey to draft him, you better do a sticky. I know Morey reads Clutch BBS, but this particular thread is not so easy to find.

Yeah. Don't quite understand what DraftExpress is doing here. They've got us picking Dekkar and passing on Jones. And they've dropped Holmes down instead of up. Haven't looked in detail but maybe they've moved draft-and-stash kids ahead of him??? I dunno. Doesn't make sense to me. My opinion this kid should be on an NBA roster.

Richaun Holmes signed his contract today. I'll be following him closely. I still believe he's going to be an outperformer and despite what I've seen from Harrell I still prefer this kid over him. Wouldn't surprise me if Holmes develops into Philly's long-term starting 4. And I'd trade Harrell for him straight up today.

Surprised that he wasn't drafted over Harrell. Based on his background, he has more natural upside than your typical senior from college.

Doubt this would happen, but a Holmes for Montrezl swap would solve our apron issue. Holmes can be traded 30 days after he's signed, and we can acquire him with one of our small TPEs. Then we just ship the rights to Montrezl to Philly....who they can sign to a similar deal.

No use of any of the remaining MLE, and it's technically not a SnT, so no apron issue.

You know, that's an excellent idea for those of us that think Holmes has more long-term upside. Not only that but Philly would owe us something else for doing that deal since they're getting to upgrade to #32. Perhaps a swap of second rounders in the future?? Or maybe we take Aldemir for Terrence?

I could see a Montrezl for Holmes swap straight up, with no additional compensation either way. While Harrell was drafted earlier, we don't have leverage since we can't sign him to a 3-4 year deal without being subject to the apron.

While I would love to get Aldemir for TJones, I don't see how Philly benefits from the trade. They've got Aldemir for 3 more years at $3 million per, while TJones will be a RFA next summer. Maybe if we threw in something else, like the rights to Gentile.

I think you're right. Although I suspect Philly probably wouldn't even do the Harrell for Holmes swap (unless that was previously agreed to during the draft) at this point.

I think they would. My guess is the Rockets and 76ers scouting departments look at prospects very similarly. If the Rockets thought Holmes was the superior prospect, they would have drafted him at #32. Not enough happened in summer league to change how either prospect would be perceived.

I do wonder about what you suggested......is it possible there was a pre-arranged agreement? Probably not, but my guess is that even before free agency, Morey thought we were at risk of bumping into the apron.

If we're going to consider the possibility of a pre-arranged agreement, you might have to consider other teams as well. Boston, for instance, has already signed Mickey and they're sitting on 17 guaranteed contacts. There's several trade possibilities there with them. Although I don't like Mickey nearly as well as I like Holmes.

My feeling right now is I cannot see Morey allowing himself to be hard capped this season with this team being on the cusp. I'm wondering if they're going to actually trade Harrell, maybe for possibly a future late first or high second or are they going to help Harrell get a nice one-year contact over seas.

If I we're Harrell I'd take the one year tender and put all the pressure back on the Rockets.

Guys, Holmes is starting to break out now that Noel is gone. I wish we'd have drafted him instead of Harrell. He's the better player. Honestly, he's a better player than Capela. I know I'll get flamed for saying that. But in a couple seasons (maybe just one more season) it'll be obvious he's better than Capela.
