ClutchFans Game Thread: Mavericks @ Rockets 4/28/2015 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 5)

Tony Brothers sucks. But the refs aren't gonna decide the outcome. People were worried about Ken Mauer heading into Game 2 and that wound up being a non-issue.

 

Funeral Day 2:

Last week, we embalmed the Dallas Mavericks. This week, we bury them.

 

These are the types of hedges and recoveries that are getting us murdered. C'mon Josh.

 

Exxactly and this is on Harden and Howard more than anyone else. Don't look for calls, be aggressive but be way of too physical with Tony Gay out there, and just play defense like in game 1!

I wore all black to work today to prepare for the Mavericks funeral. Let's see if

Jet does the same again. I hope with a different outcome this time around

though.

Pathetic effort by Smoove. He's a much better defender than that.

 

Gut feeling... Rockets win.

I think focus fired by determination caused by performance in last game, propels a good team effort with emphasis on defense. Rockets have more problems with active guards (see GS, Clippers and Spurs), but I think (hope) Barrera will have less success in this game. No doubt last game will give Mavs hope of competing well again.

There will be 1 or 2 Rockets that will elevate their game beyond average. Defensive tone will start with Ariza and Howard and Brewer off the bench, which should spread to other teammates resulting in holding Dallas to less points than the first 4 games. If not, it may mean the Rockets do have a stubborn weakness in stopping active guard play, which will not bode well for the second round. (I think pursuing a good, defensive-minded PG in the offseason is likely, aside from Beverly.)

Defense should resemble a swarm of bees. And rebounding needs to look like they actually want the ball.

FT's need to return to at least 50% for bigs. And when is Nick Johnson going to learn to finish stronger around the rim? (Or is that Jones?)

Bottom line: If the Rockets can't win tonight after last game's performance, the series likely goes to 7 games. No other motivation needed. But erasing last game's memory is the starter.

who is this dwain idiot. does he not know glorious red and victorious yellow have been our battle colors since the beginning of time. trying to make us look like we're copying cleveland. he must be a dallas fan.

I think he's just trying to be a wiseass. He's gotta know the ketchup and mustard colors are from the title era. I will admit though that it'll look a little awkward to have everyone wearing those colors while the players on the court will be dressed in white, red, and silver.

 

funny how our alternate jerseys are now our road jerseys. but maybe we wear em again?

 

And Joey Crawford in Game 1, don't forget about that.

 

How does that work anyway? Do the Rockets get to choose which ones they wear on the road? I think in the regular season, it's predetermined.
