it's amazing that they can call the same play at the beginning and end of the game.

revisionist history. Houstonians filled up the Dome to welcome the Oilers back to the city after a game they LOST!!

They sold tickets at a 110% clip for about 8 years in a row before Bud said he needed a new stadium. A new stadium that he said he needed, at least in part, to accommodate all the standing room only crowds he drew at the Dome. Of course, we were still paying interest on the improvements we made to keep him from moving the team to Jacksonville a few years earlier when he made these demands. He never came up with a plan...lied to the public that the Rockets agreed to play in a new dome to be built downtown...and he didn't have one friend in the community step up to try to help him. Not one.

This has always been a football city, like it or not. I prefer baseball and basketball, but the support the Texans get and the Oilers got is/was sensational. Particularly when you consider the product the Texans have delivered.

I'm happy that the Rockets are doing so well, when the Texans are sucking so badly. This keeps the Rockets success from being overshadowed by the Texans and will make Houston appreciate the team more, making it less likely they will ever be moved to another city.

The Rockets will always be overshadowed by the Texans, even if they win titles. I say this as a person who loves all 3 teams, but loves the Rockets first.

Football is the most popular sport in the country, and this is most football mad state of them all. Football plays to a huge casual fan demo that basketball never will.

I realize all this. However, it is a much different situation when the professional football team in a city like Houston is winning. The Rockets would get a lot less attention no matter how well their season was going. If the Texans suck and the Rockets rock some segment of sports fans will shift their attention from pro football to pro basketball creating a bigger fan base for the Rockets. It will probably never be bigger than the Texans, but it will be bigger than it would have been if both teams were winning at the same time.

I believe Harris County is still paying for the renovations done to remove the scoreboard and add extra seats in 1989.

All I see on my Facebook feed are people at the Texans game saying Go Texans! While the Astros are playing game 1. What did the Texans ever do to deserve so much love and support??? Both Rockets and Astros have decades of history with this city, championships and finals/world series appearances. Texans haven't done **** yet this city automatically made them the #1 team since day 1. Makes me so sick, I don't dislike the Texans as much as I just hate thier underserved popularity in this city

It's called FOOTBALL. Football will always, always be way bigger in the US than basketball could ever hope to be.

Just deserts. The irony is that the unquestioning devotion of this city for the Texans has allowed Bob to bamboozle the entire city and roll out a perpetual product completely unconcerned with winning. And the city is perpetually unconcerned with winning too as evidenced by their unquestioning devotion. Football fans in this city used to care about winning. You'll pay twice as much to get into a preseason game to the worst football team in the NFL than you will to get into a playoff home game for the Astros due to fan-driven demand.

And that is not a coast-to-coast phenomenon everywhere in the US. That shame is singularly owned by Houston. It used to not be that way. This city used to be able to pick its nose and scratch its butt at the same time. And I love football. You could put 2 JJ Watts on the Texans, and Houston Cougars, a college team, would still bury those fake Oilers. Best football team in Houston: Cougars.

Go Rockets. Go Stros. Go Cougars.

We are going to need a miraculous "V. Stiviano" incident or something of that level sent down from heaven for Houston to ever have a chance at seeing a competitive NFL team again. The only other alternative is for football fans to care about winning again and hold the team accountable. But I'm just an old school native. Support all your pro teams, go see live local music, call your mom, tip your bartender.

It seems we are blessed with 2 extremely competent organizations in Houston. Front offices that I am confident will keep us aimed towards titles.

We are just gonna have to deal with that turd off Kirby. They're making money, competence not required.

Who knows, maybe the competence stems from the fact that demand for the Rockets and Astros is heavily dependent on their performance, while the Texans will sell out seats even when they are tanking for a 1st pick overall.

The Texans are hot garbage. The first chance I get to watch them all season and they lay down.

    LMAO LOL

Like I said egg ball playing Texans suck and JJ Fatt is an over-rated, unathletic LOSER.

All he does is lead his team to trashing after trashing, defeat after defeat and no playoffs.

James HARDEN is the FACE of Houston. A true super star who leads his team to winning.

Get used to it Texan fans. Rockets are the KINGS of this city.

Just leave the racial stuff out.

What you said is possibly true from a physical point of view. In general Houston is known to be an obese city and obviously most of the population are Texan fans and are likely to be unathletic and fat like JJ Fatt... I mean eggball is an unathletic fake tough guy sport so it only makes sense to draw such viewers.

So you maybe on to something...

I doubt they can identify with athletic guys like Dwight Howard and Clint Capela
