I'm livid right now. I have been a customer for AT&T DSL for the past few years, and since my parents are the ones paying the bills and me being away in college, they didn't really have the need for some fast internet. Recently, we've been getting messages from AT&T that we are about to go over our bandwidth, which we've never had any problems with before. I don't really have an issue with that, but now my parents are paying close to 50 dollars for this slow ass internet. Today, I tried to register an online account with AT&T to figure out these obscure passcodes that I've allegedly set up in the past. This dick over the online chat proceeds to take remote control access of my laptop and tries to help me enter a passcode. It doesn't work. I get locked out because this dumbass can't do what he's paid to do. He gives me a number to call web assistance and I call them and they say that I have to wait 24 hours because I'm locked out. I keep telling them that it's their own people doing this ****, but they don't budge and tell me to try again later. I have to upgrade. I don't know well enough about either of these providers, so I'm asking for your experience with either UVerse or Xfinity. What's a good deal for fast internet? I don't have cable, so I just need the internet package and am looking to switch really soon.
Comcast has the better, faster internet. But it'd be a cold day in hell before I go over to those guys. Just work it out with AT&T.
I just need a home phone + internet bundle. Uverse is saying online that my address isn't eligible but the rep on the phone says I am eligible
Funny we just switched our internet provider to xfinity because AT&T told us the same thing. Much faster and better. Make the switch and don't look back.
I switched to Comcast from AT&T a few months ago and I couldn't be happier. I pay for the Extreme 105 internet ($90 for the internet plus basic cable). Here are my hardwired speeds: I think the slowest download speed I've gotten with Comcast was around 115 Mbps (hardwired). I was paying $70 just for AT&T's fastest internet, and my hardwired download speeds maxed out at around 25 Mbps. I'm paying $20 more for over 6x the speeds.
do you also have a landline lunchbox? i don't plan on getting cable, so my current DSL + phone package = 87 dollars is there a bundle that gives me faster speeds but also home phone for a reasonable price?
No, I just have the internet and basic cable tv. There's probably a package for internet + phone though.
Xfinity is better than Uverse every day of the week. And this comes from a once loyal Uverse customer that never really had any complaints. Does Comcasts customer service still suck? Why yes, yes it does. But with the new Xfinity equipment, you don't have the number of service issues you had with the Frankensteinien mis mash of boxes they have in the field.
Does anyone have 25Mbps through Comcast? I don't download; usually email, social networks, Youtube, and Netflix. 25 Mbps sufficient enough? Also, after the 12 month deal is done, how do you convince the rep to keep you on the same deal?
For home phone, get a VoIP system. I use Ooma. It just needs a hard wire into your router and you have instant land line. Pay $4 in taxes per month for a land line. You can port your old number for $40.
Internet only......I switched from Uverse to Comcast in March. Was paying $70 for the 25 mbps download. For $40, I got 50meg download from Comcast. Free upgrade last month......i now get 115-120mbps download.
I pay $29 for internet with Comcast, for the 50mb connection. Recently they doubled the speeds for free. I get around 115 down, and 15mb up. I also have cable tv, but it's through my apartment....some corporate deal they have.
I know the feeling, I was stuck on Verizon DSL for over two years. Switched to Comcast and it's expensive, $75 a month for internet only. But speed is no longer a problem. iPhone over wifi:
I always call and argue that if their current deals are good enough for new customers they are good enough for loyal ones. The problem is you get a rep from an overseas call center reading off a script. If you push hard enough and ask to speak to their superior they'll eventually transfer you to a rep center in the US that is more than happy to help you. It's how I ended up getting free HBO for two years.
Not even a question, get comcast internet over uverse internet. I still have uverse tv but have comcast internet, have the 50mb package for 54.99
So you can have Comcast internet with Uverse TV??? I've asked this before Here and spoke to a rep and the rep told me it's not possible due to their modems for TV.
You can. I just had this setup as of two weeks ago. I cancelled the following day however due to Uverse HD quality. It's an absolute joke. They'll have a tech install a 2wire gateway that has wireless and internet disabled on it, and it'll provide just TV service to your Motorola set top box (or wireless receiver) I'm back to OTA at the moment. Way better HD.
