Texans will pick up $10 million option bonus payment in QB Matt Schaub's contract as early as Thursday, tying him to Houston 3 more yrs.

Given that this is an uncapped offseason, shouldn't we renegotiate Schaub's contract so that he gets more upfront, and less as the contract goes on?

What an average QB...salary, for a near top tier talent.

So it'll be Schaub and Kubiak combo for the next 3 years, eh....

Lets see if that turns out to be a better combo than Capers/Carr.

I have my money on SK. ;)

Glad to see it! Dude deserves it.

With no run support, he's been damn near amazing.

Edited:.....watching Southpark on another monitor while typing...and eating lunch...combined with being dense....I misread.

A bag of stale potato chips and a kick to the nuts would be a better combo than Capers/Carr.

That would seem logical but considering that Brees and Manning are about to get new deals that's going to throw the money Shaub's owed way off. Not saying he's on the same level, but he could make an argument for a raise considering his numbers. The Texans are signing him to a reasonable deal. A starting QB at this pay rate and the stats he's putting up........ I say good move.

Clarify if I'm wrong, but even with no salary cap in 2010, that doesn't mean there will be a salary cap in '11 or beyond, so it's relatively moot. And football in '11 still looks iffy at best.
