Hey Everyone, Which brokerage firm do you recommend openning a LLC account? I am using OptionHouse for my retirement, but they want to charge me $100/month for real time for the LLC Account. Thanks.
lol thats basically all my money right now (with no debt). And I probably need to have emergency savings on top of that. Plus I probably should own my own house first. So it'll probably take me 2-3 years before I can even start stock trading then.
personally i'd put what i'm willing to spare in an index fund until then unless you have a specific plan you want to carry out. i'd like to hear what others have to say though.
I say start off with 2k. Most people lose money when they first start trading. Its better to learn with a small account and add money later when you get a feel of how the market works.
Jumping in here mid-thread, but don't see any reason to not just incrementally get into ETFs and index funds with expectation of maybe 7% a year versus trying an individually focused opportunity. Anyone realizing returns well in excess of what you could get in a more diversified manner?
Hmm so you guys think I should get into index funds and ETFs with my spare money because theyre relatively low risk.... I dont even know what those are but ill do some research.
i bought GE and BUD last month and they've been killing it. Also got some T, which is doing alright. Anyone have an opinion on MSFT? I've been holding it for a while and it's been under performing.
Read JL Collins' stock series. He has good information on index funds in there. Considering your goals of an emergency fund and home ownership, this common sense investing should be right up your alley. http://jlcollinsnh.com/stock-series/
im jumping in on this discussion. anybody heard of robinhood.com? If so, is it useful... a good way to start trading?
Be weary of any free trading platform they will just use your trades and gather information to trade against you
No one's going to trade against someone at the size of a small retail investor. They aren't going to make more money doing that than the $10 in commissions you'll save on each trade.
