Because we have no real trade assets? We need to flip some of our average players with average potential on average contracts for a true asset, regardless of what that might be.

Really? A rebounding semi defensive PF that can play Center?

I'd say Morey would be very interested.

    Imagine:

    Lowry
    Lee
    Chase
    Gasol
    Dalembert

I hope this doesn't mean Lowry is replacing Paul, but I would love to have Bynum!

If we get Bynum or Gasol, it would be the Hornets who ultimately end up with our "average" assets for Paul.

I would react but since it doesn't specify who the Rockets are giving up and who they are getting there is no point. Speculating is a waste of time.

I would venture to guess it could look like this....

[rquoter]Lakers receive: Chris Paul, Trevor Ariza

    Rockets receive: Andrew Bynum

    N. Orleans receives: Luis Scola, Courtney Lee, Jordan Hill, Goran Dragic, LA's 2012 1st rounder, NY 2012 1st rounder and Steve Blake.[/rquoter]

Lakers are supposedly trying to dump either Walton or Odom's contract.

    LAL: Paul
    HOU: Odom
    NO: Flynn, Walton

Yes, it sucks for everyone but the Lakers. Welcome to the NBA and moneyball trades.

Bynum could be our centerpiece. Do not give up Martin or Lowry and our team is awesome.

Piggybacking off @sam_amick tweet, Lakers/Rockets/Hornets discussing a deal that would send CP3 to LA, Pau to Houston.

Bynum or Gasol in Houston would be great.

If you can't get the Gold ring, get the silver one.

Yeah, I look at that team and see a borderline playoff team. Gasol is getting old and is already on the decline. We are trying to rebuild and need young guys or players that will be able to play at a high level for the next 3-5 years. Gasol was great 2 years ago, and really good last year. If he plays as he did last year he won`t be able to put us into contention. Actually I´d much preferred Martin and Scola (who you seemed to give up in that proposed trade).

One thing i've learned watching Gasol for almost 10 years ...he's a PF and would not be our answer at center. Yes he could fill in at the 5 for a few minutes, but i don't see the logic in aquiring Gasol given his age, his position, and the fact that we are a few years away from being a contender. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense ...especially with Scola and Patterson on the team. Plus ...isn't Gasol on a max contract? I don't see how adding Gasol helps us with the flexibility we need to be players in next year's free agent bonanza.

I can settle for Bynum instead of Howard. Even though he is a thug, every team needs its thug.

But seriously, why are we cursed with getting injury-prone players? Bynum can be very good to very, very good. The only problem is we might have a deja vu of the Yao Era where we every year we say, "Wait until next year when Bynum is back and finally healthy!" But, unlike the Yao Era, Bynum has a horrible attitude so I am not sure I could hold out hope as long because you can never know if he is putting in the effort.

So in Bynum, you potentially get Yao's yearly injury with T-Mac's attitude and laziness.
