Good: Foster and Mercilus. Also Randy Bullock.

    Bad:
    - The team consistently not being ready to play in almost every game this year is probably the biggest bad surprise.
    - Duane Brown
    - Andre Johnson sometimes not giving max effort
    - Bill O'Brien's decision making. He has more in common with Kubiak than he does with Belicheck.
    - Brooks Reed. I was hoping he'd improve under Crennel. Guess not. Reed's only good year was his rookie year.

    Expected:
    - Fitzpatrick. As expected, he sucks. It's not due to lack of effort...he plays hard and that's good. He's just really lacking in talent. He is what he is. Effort can only go so far...good natural talent is mandatory to be even a decent QB in the NFL.
    - Cushing - Sorry but the guy's days as an NFL starter are probably coming to an end soon. Multiple serious knee injuries have permanently taken their toll on him. I think the Texans need to cut him after the season.
    - DJ Swearinger - The guy is Bernard Pollard 2.0. Zero brains or discipline; just likes to recklessly and sometimes stupidly hit people hard.

    Good:
Three games into the season they exceeded their win total from last year.
    Foster.

    Bad:
Draft class looks even worse than last year's, even without Clowney getting hurt.

For me it's the inconsistency - we started of the season looking pretty decent and have fallen away after some close losses.
This team seems to lose interest or heart or both too easily.

This is an appallingly classless thing to say, unsurprising given its source.

Yes, his name is Jay Prosch. He was a beast at Auburn. But he has been terrible in the NFL so far.

Anyone who expected Fitz to better '11 Schaub hasn't been paying attention.
Anyone who expected Fitz to be better than he currently is hasn't been paying attention.

No one said anything about expecting better than '11 Schaub.

Fitz has had better years. I thought our new QB coaching genius would coax a good year out of him.

Has he had better years? He's currently got by far the best completion percentage of his career and the best QB rating along with the highest yards per completion and yards per attempt of his career. He's got a somewhat high interception total, but most of those aren't his fault. In years past he'd throw picks that were just boneheaded decisions, this season they are coming on tipped passes and when the receiver runs the wrong route.

By most accounts he's having the best season of his career.....but Texans fans need a scapegoat so......

Somewhat high? If he had as many attempts as Luck he'd lead the league in INTs with 11. The league is making it easier on QBs who are now posting crazy TD/INT ratios yet Fitz is barely above 1:1.

The offense is dumbed down for him and his y/a is high mainly because of YAC. It's flukey. He is lucky he can throw to Andre and Foster.

At this point in his career he hasn't realized he's short and can't throw it over everyone?

You might be able to extrapolate his numbers out like that if the interceptions were his fault, most of them aren't. It's hard to assume there would be more tipped ball interceptions or that receivers would simply run the wrong route more if he passed the ball more. Of his 7 interceptions, probably 3 are his fault. The "why" matters when it comes to interceptions. It'll be interesting to see what his adjusted interceptions are at the end of the season

Yes it will be. He always ends up with almost as many INTs as TDs and almost 10 fumbles every year.

    Fascinating to watch.

Context be damned, you've got your narrative and you're sticking with it. I like it!

What is the context of Fitzpatrick's career?

I can't imagine that most of the TDs and fumbles aren't his fault.

For his career, most of them are his fault, however that's not been the case this season....which is why it's different. He's having a very good season despite the interception total that's largely not his fault.

It could, like I said, he's having the best season of his career. Maybe you were right when you "thought our new QB coaching genius would coax a good year out of him", because it's looking like it.

So did anyone expect Fitz to be this dumb?
