Don't know but Yao just said, in his BBS, that he passed the precamp conditioning test. Sprint 5 times on the full court back and forth, for 4 groups. He actually failed by 3 seconds but JVG cut him some slack and let him pass. Damn, special treatement! :)

Maybe it's a kinder, gentler Jeff Van Gundy. . . what am I saying. This guy is probably still a mother******* mother******.

To be fair to JVG, Yao said after he failed after trying so hard, he wanted to hit his head on the wall. My take is that JVG did want to have any more injury on the team, so he gave in. ;)

It sounds like the guys took the test one by one, no very clear in the writing. Think about it, 3 sec sprint is like 20m to 25m for people like Yao. He really failed badly.

The first preseason game is on Oct. 10th and I would bet that training camp will start the weekend before, October 2 and on.

Officially only 14 days until the first preseason game.

Probably not the right thread but I found this list of top 10 matchups in 2004-5 for the NY Knicks at NBA.com. Knicks-Rockets game comes in at number seven.

    7. KNICKS-HOUSTON ROCKETS, Friday, January 21
Welcome to Knicks West. The coaching staff includes former Knicks staffers Jeff Van Gundy, Tom Thibodeau, and, of course, Patrick Ewing. Charlie Ward (and maybe Mark Jackson) are playing point guard. Clarence Weatherspoon is a reserve forward. Dikembe Mutombo is the backup center.
Oh, and if that's not interesting enough, the re-fuelled Rockets also have a couple of pretty gifted players named Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. If Ward, Jackson, and Tyronn Lue can get these two towering talents the ball, the Rockets should be flying at a fairly high level.

Maybe Jeff just wanted to go home and figured Yao wasn't going to get any faster on subsequent runs. :D

Yep. Don't worry. This is just a pre-training camp workout. He'll have more "tests" to pass when the real training camp starts! :D

Looks like the 1st game will be on the SunShine Network in Miami. Maybe they
will broadcast that game on NBA TV too.

If trainning camp starts next week, does that mean Media Day should be sometime this week? Man, cant the season start already?

This is out of the subject, but both NBA Live 2005 and ESPN NBA 2K5, pushed up their release date a week and is coming out on Wednesday 29th. :D The season is coming upon us. :)

I wish they would stop waiting for the last minute to release the schedule  . Maybe they'll be on channel 51 (TimeWarner channel 2) again.

    Why do they do that?

I believe they will be on Ch.51 again. The reason is they are gettign ready to start the Houston Area Sports station I think in the coming year. Ch.51 makes the deal they want.

Next season it should be a lot better (the coverage), considering your cable/satelite provider picks up the option of carrying the broadcast.

I hope Cox gets it up here in CS.
