I just imagine him playing off a harden pnr, I'm betting harden would give the ball up a lot more and our offense would be plain sick.
Yup. Harden/Green pick-and-roll, leading to Green tossing a lob to Howard, much as he currently loves doing with Bogut and Ezeli. Green, much moreso than a new point guard, would make our offense sing.
He's a darkhorse all-star, this year. I think he sneak in given Golden State's record. He's worth the money 5 yrs. 82 million, seems like a monstrosity, but considering that the top guys are going to be in the 25 MM - 33 MM range. It's a bargain.
I don't think Green is worth much of anyhing in other eras, but this era is perfect for him and i say he's worth a max. Imagine him in our team, lobs to dwight all day.
And the defense? Howard, Green, Ariza? Pfft....You'd still have to get Harden to buy into defense and ball movement and you'd need Lawson to find his game again. Hmm, maybe if we hire Luke and offer Green a max, he'd be cool coming to prove himself somewhere else? Nah...he's a GS lifer, unless they are afraid to max him due to Klays max and Currys soon max coming too.
Mostly because in other eras, with their extremely rigid ideas of how the game should be played, wouldn't recognize what makes Green valuable. It's a bit like saying that Rob Gronkowski wouldn't be valuable in many other eras of football because he'd just be told to block. Green would be told to play defense and be viewed as defensive specialist because teams wouldn't consider how to make use of his vision, passing, ball-handling and shooting since he's a "tweener big man."
This is an old thread being bumped...he already got his extension. It was for a couple dollars less than the current "rookie max" (the max that players coming off a rookie contract are eligible for) and will be much less than the rookie max after the cap jumps.
You know, Draymond green is Morey's wet dream of a player. He's been looking for years for that undervalued tweener PF that can't shoot coming out of college.... We just ended up with Landry, PPat, Jones, Royce, etc instead of Green
Depending on what era you are talking about. 60s, 70s? He would be doing what Chris Webber (or to a lesser extent Sabonis) did if he was playing in Adelman's system in the 90s and 00s.
This is a small ball era which perfectly suits someone like Green who does it better than anyone else really. I think CAVS should put Love at C and LeBron play like Green does at PF. I mean i think eventually pF should be LeBrons permanent position. He's the perfect small ball PF.
I think GS is idiotic for extending Klay Thompson and Draymond Green and will regret it for years to come. I bet GS fans wished Muarie were their GM and flipped those 2 assets for more valuable pieces. Kevin Love anyone?
old but good article on Jerry West and the Warriors http://www.si.com/nba/2015/06/11/je...lden-state-warriors?page=4&devicetype=default
He's playing pass-first/spot-up-shooting point guard, except from the four. And defending all five positions at need. People way overvalue scoring...yeah, someone has to do it, but not everyone has to do a ton of it to be valuable. If he was also an elite scorer, he'd be LeBron James. You can fall well short of James (one of the five best players in history) and still be hugely valuable.
Yeah, Webber was an elite scorer and Green is no where near that. But he could play the same role as Webber did very effectively. The point is, Green is not just the product of the so-called small ball era, although it does helps. His skills set can be effective in earlier systems.
That ship has sailed...hes too old now. I wanted him like 10 years ago and of course i would love for him to be a part of this organization in any way, but as i said too old meaning he probably doesn't want to move around anymore.
Because he will screw the Rockets to make LA a contender again, like what he did in Memphis (good thing Marc Gasol turned out to be awesome).
