With all the talk about zones and how messed up the NBA is by 3-point shots, can anyone tell me why the ABA, which had about the same rules as the NBA has had for the last generation, always had plenty of scoring, inside, outside and all over the place? What was the secret that made the ABA so much more fun than the NBA?

The players weren't as good, defensively.

Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.

That's a good question, and I don't have an answer.
But ZRB is right, players in the NBA today are far better (prepared at least) defensively.
