Weekly Power Rankings of your Houston Texans.

I know they don't mean much but it gives us an idea of what the national media thinks about your team.

    CBS Sports:

20 Ryan Fitzpatrick was putrid in the first half against the Giants. They can't win if he's that bad.

    Fox Sports:

    25 HOUSTON TEXANS (2-1) HIGH: 18 / LOW: 29
The Texans ran into their first premier run defense and their running game was stifled, this time without Arian Foster. Ryan Fitzpatrick turned the ball over four times. What’s more concerning is the fact that the defense was exposed, allowing nearly 200 yards on the ground.

Yeah, that's why I was a little reluctant to buy in at 2-0.

Yep, the Giants ran the ball all over the Texans at MetLife. Speaking of MetLife, it's a surprise Snoopy wasn't out there playing tight end for Houston. This is a team that's trying to stay viable with Ryan Fitzpatrick at starting quarterback and Alfred Blue -- a sixth-round pick filling in for the injured Arian Foster -- at tailback. And, of course, the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Jadeveon Clowney, is still out. If Kevin Bass has to play wideout against the Bills on Sunday ...

Can't disagree with any of these ratings/analyses. But the "jokes" that the writer for NFL.com made in his write-up make no sense at all. Or maybe I just don't know enough about Peanuts or old Astros players to get it.

Well, Snoopy is the mascot for MetLife. But that still doesn't help much.

Was that really a 'Kevin Bass' reference? Having to play wide out? I have to imagine almost no one in this forum remembers the former Astro or if you do, why he would even be brought up. Just weird even if you over look the one position we don't need help with is wide out.

That is probably it Btg, if so, it is still such a dated and inexplicable reference. Would be funny to hear the comments if Pancakes got so lost down memory lane. Ooops, he kinda does ;)

Yeah, that's pretty odd, at best it's a 22 year old reference that isn't particularly clever, at worst, it's evidence of substance abuse.

LOL - Reminds me of Will Ferrels SNL sketch of Harry Carry. Now I have to find it.

    14. Texans (18): The Texans won without a productive Arian Foster, who ran eight times for six yards. The defense is capable of big plays but can it slow down the Cowboys rushing attack led by DeMarco Murray this week?

    Fox Sports
    http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/power-rankings
    17 HOUSTON TEXANS (3-1) HIGH: 17 / LOW: 29
J.J. Watt single-handedly changed the game after he intercepted a third-quarter pass and took it 80 yards for the score. Watt wasn’t a one play wonder either as he racked up an additional eight quarterback hits, six hurries and a batted pass. Ryan Fitzpatrick was able to get some key first downs in the second half including two that he scrambled for. The Texans have looked like a different team at home this year.

J.J. Watt is your NFL MVP at the quarter pole. He'll never win because there's a rule the MVP has to be a quarterback or running back, but he's the best player in the game right now.

Last Week: 20 The next three games will be interesting for Houston. Will the promising start hold after traveling to the Cowboys, hosting the Colts and playing at Heinz Field?

    21 3-1 TEXANS
The Texans are 3-1. So what's preventing them from cracking the top 20? A quarterback who continues to turn the ball over. On another note, maybe we should all take a step back and realize that J.J. Watt is a 3-4 DE. Those guys are supposed to get six to eight sacks and be solid against the run. Watt is merely the best defensive player in the league, and believe it or not, has more touchdowns this season than Andre Johnson and Arian Foster combined.
