If it'll get Lebron to Chicago instead of NY, I'm all for it.

I don't understand why, Deng's a solid player. I'm sure there ethier get joe Johnson or Lebron in the offseason, A rose-johnson-deng frontcourt or rose-deng-lebron frontcourt would be nice.

This is a great deal because it works for both teams.

    So... it'll never happen.

not lopsided enough for an nba trade.

and what happens if the bulls don't land lebron and bosh? they've given deng away for the 8th pick.

That's not the end of the world. Many Bulls fans feel they grossly overpaid Deng in the first place. Perhaps it is just plain prudent to "start over" with a guy like, say, Al-Farouq Aminu, who is stuck on a relatively small rookie deal.

I don't get why all these teams are clearing cap space, thinking these max guys are going to sign outright with no sign-n-trade. That hardly ever happens; why would you count on that?

i agree its not the end of the world but it could be a step back if things don't go the way they hope in free agency. it's always a good idea to get out of a bad contract, but deng is still young and productive. yes, he's overpaid, but he's not exactly putting them over the luxury tax. i just don't think it's good value for him.

that being said, i'd probably do whatever i could to have a chance at lebron/bosh. i'm just pointing out that it's risky, and in the event they strike out they could be worse than when they started.

those players can be signed and traded for cap space. in other words, the team under the cap can absorb any player who's contract fits in their cap space. the team who is losing the star player would receive a trade exception equal to that of the outgoing contract (which can be used to absorb any player who's contract fits into that number).

I'm sure there's some fine print in the trade that involves the Clippers also sending Blake Griffin to the the Lakers for Morrison and a late second rounder.

    Deng is a solid player.

The Clippers seem to be getting better with each passing day.

Griffin will probably be 100% for pre-season play, LeBron may come to the Clippers, Deng may get traded to the Clippers.

    Davis
    Deng
    James
    Griffin
    Kaman.

    Very, very solid.

You forgot Gordon, who is probably their best player. But Lebron coming to the Clippers is a complete and total pipe dream.

It makes a lot of sense for them to get rid of Deng's salary because their core is still young. Why pay 10M when you're still far away from contending? That money they save from paying Deng could go to other players, and I highly doubt Deng is above players like Gordon Hayward or Wesley Johnson in a couple of years.

If this goes through, there's going to be some mighty disappointing teams. NY, Miami, and Chicago all with 2-max room. There are only 3 max guys... and Bosh may likely leave in a S&T rather than outright signing somewhere.

I just hope the team that ends up with nothing being New York.
